Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning, the successful candidate will assume the role of lead for case costing and related statistical reporting, providing consultative and analytical support to CAMH management and clinical programs.
The Senior Financial Planning Analyst (SFPA) Case Costing will build effective, collaborative relationships and work strategically with the Finance Managers, Finance Directors, Clinical Program Managers, Directors and Vice Presidents across CAMH.

This is a permanent position located at 100 Stokes St (hybrid /remote).
What you will do in this role:
Responsibilities will include the maintenance of the case costing data dictionaries, cost model development, cost reconciliations, cost analysis, and cost reporting, including monitoring of regular case costing data and overseeing submissions to the Ontario Case Costing Initiative's (OCCI) database.
You will act as an internal consultant for reporting requirements and quality improvement monitoring. You will also help to provide analysis of historical and current patient costing, patient resource utilization, departmental performance, and activity data to assist in the development of comprehensive clinical pathways and other clinical-focused costing reports.
The role will include working with various team members in Finance, Decision Support and Business Intelligence to ensure data integrity across source systems, and reconciling case costing with the quarterly MIS Trial Balance submissions and OCDM. As part of this role, the incumbent will monitor changes in OCCI's Reporting Standards for Case Costing, Ontario Hospital Reporting Standards (OHRS), Management Information Systems (MIS) Guidelines, the CICA Handbook, and Government Regulations, as well as provide leadership in the planning and implementation of any necessary changes which may impact information systems and data holdings.
You will participate in monthly and/or quarterly compliance reporting by owning analysis to achieve accurate and timely case costing and financial/statistical reports; ensure all monthly statistical account reconciliations are completed; leading the implementation of software modeling to effectively conduct cost benefits studies and what if scenarios as required; and participate in other special projects and ad hoc analyses as periodically assigned.
The successful candidate will have

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or Information Technology combined with a minimum of 3-years of related experience in a health care environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Activity-Based Costing, Case Costing methodology, MIS/OHRS, and hospital funding methodology and financial reporting requirements are required.
  • Experience with information technology, control processes and procedures in a multi-divisional organization;
  • Proficiency in data manipulation, analysis of major databases, and understanding of relational databases is required. Working knowledge of computerized accounting systems, patient information systems, HR applications, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) and software applications, with an aptitude for learning new computer applications quickly is essential.
  • Excellent analytical, problem recognition and problem solving skills are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a consultative, facilitative role with clinical programs is essential, as are well developed interpersonal and communication skills (verbal/written), sound judgment, discretion, tact, and courtesy.
  • A commitment to high quality work along with the ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks while responding to a multiplicity of demands in a dynamic environment is essential.
Knowledge of Clinical Informatics is an asset.
The successful candidate will also be flexible and be a self-motivated team player who is able to work independently under minimum supervision. Candidates should have the ability to work accurately under stressful conditions and to meet tight deadlines, as well as the ability to work effectively in a wide range of settings with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Please Note: This full-time, permanent position is NOT part of any bargaining unit.
