COMPENSATION: $66,646 - $88,896 Annually Prorated

To help fulfill our mission, LOFT is hiring a Senior Financial Analyst.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for the independently creating a detailed preparation of the annual corporate budget and for preparing budget submissions critical in securing and maintaining funding for the various programs within the corporation. The SFA independently monitors program expenditures in comparison to detailed budgets on a monthly basis to ensure programs are operating within their financial means is an important function which is necessary to ensure the continuing financial stability of the Corporation.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Assist the Finance Manager in the preparation of the annual corporate budget for presentation to Board of Directors for approval.
  • Independently prepares quarterly salary and hourly breakdowns by programs for government reports.
  • Independently prepares various annual budgets for different funds for year-end and other periodic reports as required by major funding sources for senior management review. Helps the team and Finance Manager identify financial requirements associated with each grant to ensure compliance is possible with grant.
  • Maintains a log and ensures all reporting deadlines (annual, semi-annual, quarterly, monthly) as required by our various grant providers and various authorities are met; independently helps provide evidence and documentation for external audits and for a variety of special reports on a timely basis.
  • Ensures reports requiring board approval are prepared in time to meet grantor deadlines.
  • Evaluates financial impact with respect to funding increases/decreases for review by the Finance Manager and the Director of Finance.
  • Independently manages and prepares financial projections with respect to corporate and/or program restructuring proposals in collaboration with the Finance Director, Managers and/or Program Directors.
  • Independently reviews every operating budget on a monthly basis comparing actual performance to budget and analyses variances and identifies and escalates problem areas.
  • Assists in the preparation of a quarterly financial forecast and year end reports for external audit purposes.
  • Balances all of the Funds to generate a balance sheet which is in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Prepare Charity Information Returns required by the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency.
  • Act as a backfill to the Accounting Manager and Payroll Analyst position as necessary.
WHAT YOU BRING:
  • Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in commerce, finance or business administration.
  • Enrolment in a program leading to a recognized accounting designation (CPA).
  • Experience in budgeting and forecasting.
  • Proficiency in using spreadsheet and word-processing applications; particularly MS Office Applications.
  • Knowledge of Great Plains Dynamics and FRX software applications an asset.
  • Excellent analytical skills required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Excellent Time Management Skills \xe2\x80\x93 deadline oriented.
  • Experience or interest in working within a non-profit social services environment.
  • Understanding of cultural competency and anti-oppression framework.
  • Reflective of a multi-barriered group, as serviced by the program, a strong asset.
