Senior Financial Analyst

Job Description

Our client is looking to hire a full time Senior Financial Analyst to be based out of their Toronto office

  • To assist with the preparation of quarterly financial forecasts and annual budgets
  • To assist with the preparation of monthly financial reports and quarterly financial packages for management/board meetings
  • To assist with financial projections, cash flows, modellings, business plans and other ad hoc financial analysis
  • To liaise with the external consultants, to prepare financial data inputs/templates for producing IFRS 17 journal entries
  • To work with and support the company accounting and actuary teams for IFRS journal entry posting, reconciliations and regulatory filing preparations
  • To perform analysis on complex accounting issues and assist with ad hoc audit requests
  • Identify and implement solutions which improve efficiency and effectiveness through the elimination, simplification, and automation of processes
  • Participate in special projects as required

  • University degree with a focus in finance or accounting
  • Accounting designation or working towards one is desirable
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience working at a financial services organization in the areas of financial accounting/reporting and budgeting/financial analysis or an accounting firm
  • Be proficient in IFRS
  • Be proficient in Excel, including Vlookup, Pivot table functions etc.
  • Strong team orientation with ability to collaborate with internal clients, peers and management
  • Strong customer service orientation, good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within Finance as well as the client groups supported
  • Understanding of insurance accounting (especially IFRS 17) concepts is a definite asset
