Reporting directly to the CFO, the successful applicant will be the first FP&A resource dedicated to decision support within a key operations team focused on strategic capital projects for the organization.

This role can be primarily remote but will include occasional travel within BC. Although a remote role, the successful candidate must currently be residing within BC and ideally within the GVRD.

A strong understanding of accounting is required to understand financial statement relationships as you build out models for the capital budgets for the projects and ensure contractual compliance. Advanced level Excel skills and experience with data and building financial models is key. Your analytical mindset and problem-solving prowess will enable you to run with the special projects that are always popping up.

Job Requirements:

  • A Canadian CPA designation is strongly preferred, or
  • A foreign accounting designation coupled with an MBA.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience including 3+ years in an FP&A role.
  • Experience in a decision support role within a municipal service setting an advantage.
  • Advanced level Microsoft Excel skills and an analytical mindset.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS, ASPE or PSA).
  • Advanced level financial modelling skills.
  • An excellent communicator.
  • Able to work both independently and within and team.
  • Familiarity with integrating various financial systems.
  • A people person who is able to work collaboratively and respectfully at all levels within a diverse work group.
