Reporting to the Manager, Financial Planning and Accounting, the Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of financial data to provide support for budgeting and forecasting. They will analyze financial information such as operational expenditures, performance, program budgets, cash flow, and investments/capital to provide financial advice to the organization. They will also be responsible for accounting and reconciliation of various account balances.


They will support in the development of monthly and annual reports as well as the day-to-day financial operations of the organization and will be the first point of contact for inquiries.

Duties and Responsibilities:



Provide accurate and timely financial analysis in support of budget management and decision-making Develop meaningful forecasts, annual budgets, and support on short-term and long-term planning Identify and explain discrepancies between forecasted and actual results Prepare regular financial reports highlighting operational and program concerns/risks Communicate any known issues and or risks discovered during budgeting or forecasting to Senior leaders Assist in the preparation of quarterly Board reports and presentations Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting to funders Assist with the monthly reporting to management of budget vs actual results Preparation of various account reconciliations including but not limited to capital assets, reserve funds, prepaids and deferred revenue Preparation of journal entries Assistance with the year-end audit process and year-end financial reporting Drive continuous improvement through the innovation and streamlining of existing processes Assist the Manager, Financial Planning and Accounting with various ad hoc projects and additional duties as required Understand and be able to integrate a philosophy of client-centered care Demonstrate a strong commitment to quality care and service delivery based on SHIP's Mission and Values Ensure appropriate records are kept and make sure that statistical information is maintained as per agency standards Adhere to agency Health & Safety Program and the Client Safety Framework in the promotion of client safety

Qualifications

:

Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business, Finance, or equivalent 3+ years' experience in a General Accountant/Senior Accountant/Financial Analysis role Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) and/or legacy CA, CGA, or CMA designation preferred 1-2 years' experience in financial forecasting and financial analysis Skilled in financial statement preparation, analysis, and reporting Public practice experience is an asset Knowledge in dealing with accounting systems, budgets, spreadsheets and internal controls Effective attention to detail and high degree of accuracy, integrity, confidentially, and accountability Strong work ethic and positive team attitude Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and government agencies Experience and sensitivity in dealing with members of different cultural and racial backgrounds, including visible and invisible dimensions of diversity Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision in a team environment Knowledge of MS Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:



This position is to replace an existing position Day shifts (Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm) with the ability to work excess/overtime hours where required Able to work well with internal and external clients Able to drive, walk (site locations) regularly Able to sit for prolonged periods of time Able to answer and communicate telephone calls and general computer use Computer screen use (multiple screens if applicable) for prolonged periods of time Able to lift up to 20lbs (product, documents, etc.) Travel by vehicle to community sites for department/program support as required
