Position: Senior Financial Analyst
Location: Mississauga
Job Type: 6-month contract with potential for extension

We are looking to hire a Senior Financial Analyst for a great client in the healthcare/pharmaceutical industry located in Mississauga. This is an approximate 6-month contract with highly likely potential for extension and/or full-time for the right candidate.

Major duties and responsibilities:

- Prepare journal entries and assist in month-end close as needed to ensure proper accounting at the functional and departmental level
- Review monthly SG&A spending (actuals and accruals) and ensure consistency with forecasts
- Manage quarterly and annual closing, post/review accruals to ensure the accuracy of F/S
- Ensure appropriate integrity and reasonableness of financial data as well as compliance with company financial policies and procedures and understanding of GAAP
- Prepare month-end financial statements and various reports such as trial balance, balance sheet and income statements
- Complete B/S account reconciliation on a monthly basis and ensure ending balances are justified and well supported
- Perform balance sheet review with management
- Assist with the monthly reporting and quarterly planning cash flow and balance sheet initiatives, including detailed analysis of Accounts Payable/DPO, incentives, prepaid and other key balance sheet and cash flow drivers
- Support and organize the Latest Business Estimate/Plan processes: generate calendars, create financial templates, coordinate process with the local team, consolidate department spending, ensure timely and accurate submissions to Area, Global and Division
- Analyze detailed financial forecasts incorporating history, trends, and current business/market information
- Communicate with each department on a regular basis to update spending based on the latest changes
- Prepare and input P&L (mainly SG&A expenses) and B/S forecast data into the financial planning system (Dodeca)
- Conduct detailed reviews of spending tracking vs. benchmark and provide variance analysis commentaries and recommendations to internal (local teams, area, global commercial, division, etc.) and external (suppliers, contractors, consultants, etc.) stakeholders
- Prepare monthly P&L (SG&A) and Balance Sheet (Prepaid, AP, liabilities) flash reports
- Provide accurate and timely financial reporting to local and area management teams that supports decision-making process
- Coordinate the SG&A improvement initiatives with the team whose main purpose is to identify efficiencies and effectiveness in spending
- Work with other finance teams, assist in preparing monthly management reporting packages that include analysis and key business changes to all departments
- Participate and/or lead implementation of financial projects
- Identify and implement opportunities for continued improvement and simplification of financial and business processes
- Support ad hoc reporting/projects as needed

Education and experience:

- A Bachelor\'s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, a related field, or equivalent, an advanced credential, such as an MBA, CPA, CMA, is preferred
- At least 5 years of performing similar tasks and responsibilities is a must
- An in-depth knowledge and experience of GAAP
- A comprehensive knowledge of balance sheet transactions and their impacts on the income statement is required
- Strong experience with SAP ERP system software and Hyperion Planning/Essbase systems
- A qualified record of implementing new processes effectively and efficiently
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Excel Macros, VBAs, Power BI expertise is a must)
- Analytically strong and decisive with the ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner
- The ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners, build strong relationships and influence others
- Confident in presenting to all stakeholders and able to defend their perspective while delivering difficult/unfavorable information in a productive manner
- The ability to operate independently within own scope of responsibility under general supervision
- The ability to prioritize and operate with a sense of urgency when needed, able to prioritize the needs of various internal and external stakeholders
- The ability to gain extensive knowledge of market landscape, business processes, policies and procedures
