About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, the Senior Financial Analyst, Investment Finance will work as a member of the Public Markets Investments team, within the Investment Finance Business Unit. With strong accounting operations and analytical background, along with investment product knowledge, this position is responsible for the operations, accounting, and reporting of our public market portfolio, along with leading, coaching and providing direction to other team members, as it relates to investment systems and operations, as well as on departmental initiatives and projects.
What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Do
Leadership role (team lead) and direct responsibility for the oversight of the accounting operations and to ensure that all investment-related activities are completely and accurately recorded, analyzed, and reported on a timely basis in the accounting book of records.
Develop, coordinate, and prepare monthly management reports ensuring completeness and consistency with respect to the various inputs to the process.
Perform detailed analysis and validation of investment valuations, fee computations and investment ledger reconciliations.
Support external reporting requirements by preparing/reviewing investment and financial schedules, reconciliations, and audit requests.
Prepare financial analysis and modeling to support the investment decision-making and portfolio management activities, using technical tools to automate and analyze data and streamline reporting processes.
Proactively identifies process inefficiencies, recommends, and execute process improvements, ensuring appropriate controls and procedural documentation are in place.
Participate in testing of system implementation/upgrades/enhancements.
Provide leadership and guidance to other junior staff in the preparation of assigned tasks and reports, to ensure all reporting deadlines are met, and play a key role in projects and other initiatives to support business requirements.
What You Bring
Recognized accounting and/or Finance designation (CPA, CFA, etc) with minimum of 5 years related experience in a financial industry, ideally in the pension fund sector.
Solid experience with investment accounting and general ledger systems (ie. EagleStar, Simcorp Dimension and Oracle)
Strong working knowledge and experience of investment products and an understanding of investment accounting practices, standards, controls, and reporting requirements.
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to deal internally and externally with all levels.
Strong technical, analytical, and quantitative skills, with demonstrated ability to perform complex calculations and analysis.
Advanced MS office Excel and Word skills.
High level of attention to detail and reporting accuracy along with strong written and verbal communications skills.
Works well independently and in a team environment.
