Position Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst, Finance, is a key team member in the Company's Corporate Finance team. Reporting to the Director, Financial Reporting, you will assist with establishing the financial standards for the Company and work cross-functionally to ensure accounting policies are implemented operationally. This includes development of accounting policies, establishment of efficient and accurate reporting processes and implementation of internal controls to ensure the highest standard of financial reporting. This role will also focus on technical accounting issues and compliance.

Key Accountabilities

  • Assess the impact of technical accounting issues under both ASPE and IFRS, including revenue recognition, business combinations, leases, share-based payments, and grant accounting
  • Responsible for the preparation of key financial statement disclosures under ASPE and IFRS
  • Assist with the accounting and reporting requirements for the Company's various financing facilities
  • Assist the ongoing reporting requirements for various federal and provincial grants
  • Research and assist in establishing accounting policies for a growing company
  • Develop process improvements to support more efficient financial reporting cycles
  • Assist with post-acquisition integration activities
  • Work with finance leaders to identify risks and internal control gaps, as well as design controls to mitigate risks and address gaps
  • Record the impact of technical accounting transactions, including revenue and stock-based compensation
  • Liaise with external auditors to support audit working papers and memos, including assisting with key risk areas.
  • Serve as an administrator of the Company's ESOP program, including administering option grants, exercises, and modifications within equity management software, and determining the accounting implications of those transactions
Skills/Qualifications
  • 5+ years work experience in accounting, preferably with a mix of industry and public accounting
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
  • CPA or equivalent designation
  • Proven technical accounting ability and can identify opportunities for improvement and ownership of driving these to completion
  • Superior process documentation skills
  • Advanced level competency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Able to tailor communication style and approach to different levels in the organization
  • Must be able to recommend alternatives and provide options
  • Thrives in a fast paced, rapidly changing environment
