About this opportunity:
Reporting to the Senior Manager, External Reporting, this role is responsible for preparing the Consolidated Financial Statements and assisting with the review of quarterly and annual financial documents filed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (“TSX”) and New York Stock Exchange (“NYSE”), including the Management’s Discussion & Analysis (“MD&A”), Supplemental Information, Annual Information Form (“AIF”), Interest Coverage Ratios and the Annual Report; preparing and reviewing backup documentation and working papers; and various ad hoc projects. The role will also assist with the preparation of legal entity financial statements, assistance with tax memos and will play a critical role in identifying and implementing process improvements related to the legal entity financial statement preparation.

This is a full-time employee position working in our Calgary office.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare the Consolidated Financial Statements.
  • Assist with reviewing the annual and quarterly MD&A, Supplemental Information, AIF, Interest Coverage Ratios and the Annual Report.
  • Prepare and review monthly and quarterly working papers.
  • Assist with the preparation of legal entity financial statements for compliance and governance purposes.
  • Review the accuracy and completeness of a variety of schedules required to support the legal entity financial statements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline the preparation of legal entity financial statements, including migration of legal entity financial statements to Workiva.
  • Support overall compliance with SOX processes and controls.

Qualifications:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • University degree and a Chartered Professional Accountant.
  • Minimum 8 years in external reporting or relevant experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Motivated individual with a positive attitude and a demonstrated ability to execute in a time-constrained environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, problem solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and Continuous Disclosure requirements.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel. SAP experience is considered an asset.
