Senior Field Service Technician - Controlled Environments

Job Duties:
Job Summary
Test and certify the performance of HEPA filters used in clean air devices and clean rooms found in a variety of environments including medical research labs, pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, hospitals and government-operated laboratories and facilities;
Perform repairs to clean air devices where required and provide customers with guidance as to the operation and maintenance of their equipment;
When requested, assist Managers in coordinating day-to-day delivery services (and products) to customers in the region;
When requested, provide necessary guidance, motivation, organization and control to meet the planned work schedules and customer requirements;
Build and maintain customer relationships; and
Assist in other functions as may be required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Field Service
Perform appropriate tests and diagnostic procedures upon all types of laboratory biosafety and chemical safety ventilation equipment, devices, and other controlled environments including but not limited to biosafety cabinets, clean benches, cleanrooms, filter housings, glove boxes and fume hoods;
Investigate, analyze, and identify root causes of all problems encountered in the field and take necessary corrective and preventive actions, where possible and appropriate, to eliminate problems;
Coordinate individual day-to-day activities and ensure managers and/or colleagues are aware of these activities;
Ensure, to the extent possible and where reasonable, that all customer requirements are met in a timely and cost-effective manner;
Document test results and submit completed documents in accordance with company policies and procedures;
Operate and maintain, in good working order, all testing equipment and materials used in job;
Ensure any repairs and maintenance for testing equipment are performed in a timely manner; and
Utilize technical support available from manufacturers or other Con-Test technicians when unable to troubleshoot certain problems in the field.
Customer Relations
Maintain excellent working relationships and communication channels with clients and colleagues; and
Interact with customers to provide guidance on operation and maintenance of equipment.
Compliance
Ensure compliance with all required procedures and practices relating to occupational Health and Safety;
Help ensure that all incidents of non-compliance are properly documents, i.e. through non-conformance reports from the QMS system; and
Help ensure all staff in the region conform with company policies and procedures.
Training
Attend any training courses required by Con-Test;
Provide on-the-job training to less experienced technicians when requested;
Review reports of other technicians for accuracy and consistency with Con-Test policies and procedures and provide appropriate feedback as requested.

Location of Work:
Ajax and Greater Toronto Area
Regular travel to client sites throughout the Greater Toronto Area and Ontario as a whole is required
Education Required:
Secondary School diploma or equivalent required
NSF 49 accreditation required
Post-secondary trades education in a relevant field such as HVAC technology or electrical technology is considered an asset
Work Experience:
Minimum three years of work experience as a Field Service Technician within the commercial/medical HVAC industry
Experience with and thorough knowledge of industry standards and best practices for testing and certifying all types of laboratory biosafety and chemical safety ventilation equipment, devices, and other controlled environments including but not limited to biosafety cabinets, clean benches, cleanrooms, filter housings, glove boxes, and field hoods
Workable knowledge of and experience with basic HVAC systems, basic electrical wiring and motor repair or other related abilities

Must be willing to travel for extended hours, including to rural or remote client sites
