SENIOR EXTRACTION TECHNICIAN
As we continue to expand our production activities, Aqualitas is looking for an experienced and dedicated Senior Extraction Technician who will play an integral role in the production of high-quality cannabis extracts and in the development and optimization of all cannabis extraction processes and product formulations. This role will be responsible for managing extraction and post-extraction labs in terms of cannabinoid extraction, processing and post-processing, and communicating extraction activities to upper management.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Head-Post Production your work will include but not limited to the following:
Adhere to all Company Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions, Good Production Practices (GPP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Ensure compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, OH&S, as well as complete and on-time delivery at the lowest possible cost.
Develop and maintain extraction processes by initiating, coordinating and enforcing operational policies, procedures and work instructions.
Schedule extraction and post-process tasks and coordinate with the QA team to create, review and amend extraction process SOPs, manufacturing batch records, training records, and related documentation.
Lead the investigation of any manufacturing deviation from written instructions and product and/or material component Out of Specification reported or observed result(s).
Maintain material safety data sheets (SDS) for all department chemicals and products.
Assure that operations adhere to all business and industry license requirements and be able produce documents as proof immediately upon request.
Effectively communicate results to both technical and non-technical personnel.
Maintain inventory of all raw materials, chemicals, equipment, finished products and by-products of the extraction process.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all details pertinent to extraction processes using an ERP system.
Clean, sanitize, organize, store and maintain extraction equipment, supplies and laboratory facility following cGMP, and SOPs; monitor environment.
Document all machine maintenance; order equipment/material and improve or develop safety guidelines for equipment use.
Supervise, train and assist team members in optimizing equipment for research and commercial production.
Develop, implement, and hold the team accountable to relevant KPIs with a focus on continuous improvement by producing weekly production reports and attending company meetings.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Bachelor's in chemistry, Biochemistry, Plant Genetics or related field.
Minimum 2 years cannabis extraction experience
Experience working with CO2 extraction equipment.
Experience working with short-path distillation equipment.
Prior experience in a laboratory or pharmaceutical setting.
Prior experience formulating consumer products will be considered an asset.
Skill Requirements:
Experience with extraction, oil processing.
Strong leadership, collaboration and communication skills.
Ability to mange, lead and inspire work colleagues.
Willingness, adaptability and flexibility to complete any task that may be required and to prioritize activities and adjust priorities on short notice.
Consistent knowledge of SOP's, GPP, GMP, Cannabis Act and Cannabis Regulations.
Ability to act independently and as a team member.
Attention to detail and accuracy including thorough documentation abilities.
Excellent comprehension, communication and interpersonal skills.
