Senior Estimator - Building & Municipal Construction

Location: Ontario

The Role

We are seeking a Senior Estimator to join our construction team. In this role, you will lead

the development of detailed cost estimates for a wide range of building and municipal

infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities will span the planning, budgeting, and pre-

construction phases, including vendor procurement, bid submissions, and contract

execution.

This position requires a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise in estimating for

heavy civil, environmental remediation, roadworks, floats, bridges, and underground

utilities.

Key Responsibilities

? Develop and manage major construction cost estimates for public and private sector

projects.

? Prepare and coordinate quantity take-offs, technical proposals, and bid documentation

using tools like HeavyBid.

? Oversee pre-qualification and pre-bid submissions, ensuring timely and accurate

delivery.

? Analyze construction drawings, specifications, and related documents to identify scope,

risks, and value opportunities.

? Collaborate with project teams to establish work hours, sequence of operations,

material procurement plans, and vendor selection.

? Conduct site visits, attend project meetings, and contribute to bid delivery efforts when

required.

? Evaluate and negotiate pricing with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure cost

competitiveness.

? Monitor and update management and stakeholders on bid progress and strategy.

? Develop contingency plans and perform risk assessments tied to cost, scheduling, and

resource availability.

? Maintain current knowledge of estimating best practices, technologies, and market

trends.

? Promote compliance with company safety programs and contribute to continuous

improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

? Bachelor's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering or a related field.

? 8+ years of estimating experience, with a focus on heavy civil and municipal

construction.

? Proven track record working on infrastructure projects ranging from $10M to $400M.

? Strong background in earthworks, roads, bridges, underground utilities, and building

construction.

? Proficient in estimating software such as HCSS HeavyBid, Paydirt, and advanced Excel.

? Excellent project planning, time management, and multitasking abilities.

? Strong interpersonal, leadership, and negotiation skills.

? Able to travel for site assessments and work extended hours when required.

? Knowledge of industry standards, contract structures, and risk management techniques.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $80,176.31-$124,342.48 per year
