AECOM is actively seeking a Senior Environmental Professional/Regional Manager for our Yellowknife, NT office. This is a Full-time role.

This position is ideally suited to a senior civil/environmental engineer or environmental scientist. This position will contribute to the execution of environmental investigations and remediation in the Territories. Opportunities encompass contributions to all phases of the remediation life cycle, from assessment, remediation planning, regulatory, construction and closure. The position may also include Regional and Office Management duties for the right candidate, managing staff and representing AECOM in the community.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Senior project support for environmental investigation and remediation projects in a technical, project management and/or regulatory capacity.
  • Technical writing, preparation and review of technical documents.
  • Safety leadership, participating in field meetings, overseeing subcontractors, contributing to and following safe work practices, developing/following/implementing safety plans and recognizing hazards on a day-to-day basis, confidence in exercising stop work authority.
  • Participation in occasional field activities for work oversight and technical inspections.
  • Field activity planning, coordination, administration, and monitoring, including contract close out and reporting.
  • Remedial option assessment, implementation, system operation and maintenance.
  • Participation in the preparation of Remedial Actions Plans, Remedial Options Analysis and documents of a similar nature.
  • Development of strategic proposals and budgets in support of work opportunities.
  • Foster client satisfaction including maintaining good client relationships and client development.
  • Regular communication with regulators, clients, and other AECOM technical staff/project managers
  • Co-ordination and ownership of subcontractor, sub-consultant and other project partner relationships
  • May oversee the work of other professionals.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in a relevant engineering (civil, geological, chemical, environmental etc.) or sciences discipline: geology, environmental sciences, etc.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the Northwest Territories (or eligible for licensing)
  • 6 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience as an environmental consultant, industry representative, or regulator versed in contaminated site investigation, remediation/reclamation, and waste management.
  • Valid driver\'s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in the Canadian North and on federally-regulated project sites.
  • Experience working with land and water boards.
  • 10 years experience in Environmental Site assessment and Remediation.
  • Experience with developing and preparing Environmental Site Assessments, Remedial Action Plans and/or Remedial Design Packages for submittal and acceptance for technical clients and regulators.
  • Experience with remediation projects, including contractor supervision, construction oversight and contract administration.
  • Ability to prepare reports that present complex technical matter in a clear and concise manner.
  • Thorough knowledge of territorial and federal environmental regulations, as well as program specific guidelines such as the Abandoned Military Site Remediation Protocol.
  • Physically capable of completing field work in remote project settings.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing work environment; excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills; conduct yourself with integrity, work within multi-disciplinary teams, deal with complex issues, and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Have a high level of initiative and enthusiasm.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite.

  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
  • Travel may be required in this position within Canada\xe2\x80\x99s northern territories (candidates must be prepared to undertake field assignments (typically less than one week at a time).
