WatchGuard embraces a Flexible Work Philosophy. Most of our employees can choose to work from the office, at home, or any combination of the two. We\xe2\x80\x99ve built a global workforce of outstanding team members and a flexible culture built on trust, collaboration, and belonging.

Who You are:

You are a passionate, solutions oriented, full SDLC driven technical leader who can effectively lead multiple (typically 2-3) teams of 7+ folks in an agile setup by making sound technical decisions, understanding business needs, and being up for a challenge. You love mentoring and leading engineers at misc. career levels (junior, senior, principal, etc.) and challenge them to get stuff done innovatively with the highest focus on quality and security. You come with proven experience working with globally distributed teams using Agile methodologies, JIRA, and Confluence. You are also comfortable with AWS (Amazon Web Services) and Azure cloud technologies and have some development experience using both cloud back-end and front-end technologies.

You are inquisitive, you love learning, and you know how to get to the right answers even if you do not know them to start with. You are an effective communicator and are completely at ease in providing status updates to misc. stakeholders without prompting and you also love working with UX (User Experience) designers and Product Managers to weigh the pros and cons of their choices, and resolve product requirement questions, while supporting QA (Quality Assurance) as necessary to isolate and resolve issues.

You have a knack for innovation; you are driven by the desire to help our customers/partners succeed. You also embody the other human values that we care about most (accountability, belonging, a bias for action) and you know that people matter most.

What to expect as a \xe2\x80\x9cSenior Engineering Manager\xe2\x80\x9d in WatchGuard:

The Engineering Manager role is the key leadership role in WatchGuard engineering team, and as you ramp up your responsibilities you would be critical in helping us achieve the following main objectives:
A Typical \xe2\x80\x9cDay in the Life of a Senior Engineering Manager\xe2\x80\x9d in WatchGuard:

As our key \xe2\x80\x9cleader\xe2\x80\x9d who brings the best of cloud-based software design and development practices to WatchGuard, you are the default go-to person for every member of our globally distributed teams. You might begin your day by meeting with your product and market owner to help them with specifications (and/or estimations) related to the new services that they want to offer to the customers. Then you move on to check on the code written by your teammates working on different projects to review for consistency and compliance with the best practices and standards. You might see a request from our customer support team for some issues and requests coming from our partners that might prompt you to dive in to your \xe2\x80\x9cresearch-oriented attitude\xe2\x80\x9d and either find more efficient technologies and/or protocols to satisfy the asks in front of you.

You are also looking out for what our competition is up to which then leads you to write a compelling argument on what we should be doing next to best position our cloud-based offerings. In between, you are also writing code for solving the most technical aspects of the services that your team owns as we continue to evolve our MSSP/MSP focused WatchGuard Cloud (which is our unified user interface for our partners and customers to supervise and manage all security services that we provide as a company).

In addition, you are pinged rather frequently by our \xe2\x80\x9cprogram managers\xe2\x80\x9d who are responsible for keeping the stakeholders in the loop re. the efforts, timelines, dependencies, and cross team collaborations, and you are the best resource to determine the upcoming launch timelines, assignments, and deadlines for each component.

A Day in a Life

You are in a pivotal role on a rapidly growing team on the forefront of network security. On a typical day you will be using your business acumen, management skills, and accounting knowledge to work on a variety of critical accounting tasks; anything from developing revenue accounting policies for new product launches, supporting accounting diligence for M&A activities, to coordinating with IT and outside consultants to implement new accounting systems. You will develop a deep understanding of the business and will be familiar with our worldwide operations.
