OBJECTIVE
In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll be responsible for leading a team of Product Engineers. You\xe2\x80\x99ll be a major part of creating the vision and strategy for performance products at Mustang Survival through the product development process. As a key member of the product team, you\xe2\x80\x99ll be responsible for product performance, safety, and compliance for flotation, apparel, dry suits, and other protective equipment. You will be a mentor to the product engineering team with a strong organizational and leadership background.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead a group of engineers to create and validate new products including inflatable devices, dry suits, and foam flotation
  • Provide technical guidance, engineering mentorship on design process, technical decisions, and professional ethics
  • Oversee the development and implementation of engineering projects, ensuring that projects are completed in a timely manner, on budget, and in accordance with company policy
  • Manage and prioritize project timelines, resources, and budgets
  • Foster professional development, engineering ethics, and integrity
  • Understand and interpret technical specifications, standards, and drawings
  • Design and construct product mock-ups and prototypes
  • Review, approve, and drive consistency on product documentation (test plans, drawings, material specifications, failure analyses, cost estimates, etc.)
  • Collaborate with category managers, project managers, and product engineers to validate technical solutions to meet requirements
  • Generate innovative product solutions based on customer needs and certification requirements
  • Advance the Mustang Survival product design process
  • Create, improve, and support cross-functional process on new product development to drive organizational efficiency
  • Provide design and technical support for existing products (change management, material substitutions, trouble shooting, etc.)
  • Support products in all Mustang Survival sectors including Military, Recreation, Professional, and Industrial categories
  • Support engineering initiatives in our Jacksonville, West Virginia, and UK facilities
  • Identify opportunities and implement solutions to improve technology, process, and training
  • Perform functions of the engineering team in typical tasks including performing tests, creating drawings, building prototypes, and engaging users
  • Set performance expectations, provide feedback, coaching, mentorship, and conduct regular 1-on-1\xe2\x80\x99s and performance reviews
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices, and ensure that the team is aware of any changes or updates

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Materials, Industrial, or equivalent)
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer with EGBC
  • 8+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in engineering (preference given to related industry)
  • 3+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in engineering management
  • Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with multiple departments such as Business Development, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Marketing
  • Proven project management skills and a track record of successfully managing multiple projects
  • Excellent people management, leadership, and mentorship skills
  • CAD experience (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or related)
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with MS Office and familiarity with Adobe Suite
  • Ability to adapt and work well in a continually changing environment
  • Inherent curiosity and interest in problem solving
  • Knowledge of life support equipment, personal protective equipment, or technical apparel is an asset
