About this opportunity:

The Conventional Production Operations Team is looking to fill a Calgary based GHG Operations Engineering Role. Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Operations Engineering this highly dynamic role is an integral part of a multidisciplinary team. You will be responsible for the evaluation and execution of numerous projects specifically related to Green House Gas reduction within the Conventional asset base. Project tracking, KPI reporting, field travel and strong written and verbal communication with multiple stakeholders will also be critical for the role.

You will have a high level of knowledge of Cenovus\xe2\x80\x99s standards, procedures, codes, specifications, as well as industry best practices across multiple engineering disciplines. The successful candidate must exercise independent judgment when interpreting information to resolve regulatory and operational challenges while making decisions and recommendations aligned to the business needs.

Responsibilities:
  • Promote safety as a core value in their approach to design and execution of work in their area.
  • Support the reduction of Conventional GHG emissions by 165,000 tCO2e/year by 2028
  • Steward project implementation and gain support from other functions required to execute identified GHG reduction projects. These include, but are not limited to, Discipline & Project Engineering, Joint Interest, Measurement, Emissions Management, Supply Chain, Field Operations, and Field Construction.
  • Prepare AFE\xe2\x80\x99s, MOC\xe2\x80\x99s and construction packages.
  • Key stakeholder to interface with existing innovation and technology groups to evaluate new technologies that would be applicable to the Conventional assets
  • Provide routine progress updates to the leadership team on key metrics such as GHG reduction, carbon offset credits, capital performance, and schedule
  • Support the creation and updates of GHG forecasts and dashboards
  • Troubleshoot technology performance issues and provide timely support to Field Operations to rectify
  • Incorporate successfully implemented technologies into development programs
  • Assess and trial new technologies to grow scope beyond currently identified opportunities
  • Evaluate opportunities to accelerate pace of execution
Qualifications:
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Professional Engineer sanctioned by APEGA with ability to authenticate mechanical engineering deliverables
  • Experience within the BC regulatory body would be considered an asset
  • 8 or more years of relevant operations, facility and production engineering experience
  • Knowledge and application of frequently used codes (ASME B31.3, CSA Z662 etc.)
  • Working knowledge of upstream oil and gas industry and facility design
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with an ability to influence multi-disciplinary teams including Field Operations, Maintenance, Regulatory, Finance, Commercial, Marketing and external companies
  • Must be able to multi-task effectively and manage competing deadlines
  • Strong operations troubleshooting skills with an ability to make timely and consistent decisions on a broad variety of topics
