Summary of the role
As senior engineer, excitation systems, you will play a key role among ANDRITZ\'s automation group. You will part of the electrical engineering-product development team, based in Chambly. You will participate in new power plant and system rehabilitation projects.

What will you do?
Two main areas of responsibilities form the core of this role in our Canadian team.

Project development and conception

  • Be responsible for the design of excitation and speed control systems
  • Perform preliminary engineering prior to factory testing
  • Be responsible for the complete realization of systems in accordance with the specifications and schedules
  • Participate in the design of systems and software and set up the necessary tools for the follow-up of the different configurations
  • Carry out and document the test and validation procedures of the systems
  • Write various engineering documents, operating specifications, test reports and commissioning procedures
  • Support the commissioning of voltage and speed control systems
  • Respond to support requests for voltage and speed control
  • Review of technical specifications in anticipation of participating in the development of tenders.
Internal and external client support
  • Act as a lead/expert in the work group, train and mentor associate and career-level engineers, technicians, and drafters.
  • Guide and direct associate level engineers, technicians, and drafters
  • Make adjustment to the settings of the controllers while support site commissioning activities.
  • Communicate with end customers on varied technical issues to ensure project needs are met.
  • Provide engineering and technical expertise as well as guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems of increasing scope and complexity
  • Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives (G&Os) through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities
  • Conduct engineering and related studies, complete non-routine engineering projects with minimal oversight with the ability to independently manage project
  • Maintain project timelines and budgets.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and project files

Your profile will be considered if you have :
  • Bachelor\'s degree in electrical engineering, combined with 10 years of related experience
  • Active membership with the Ordre des ing\xc3\xa9nieurs du Qu\xc3\xa9bec (OIQ)
  • Excellent knowledge and established experience with generator excitation systems (brushless and static) as well as with generator excitation control systems
  • Excellent knowledge and established experience with NERC modeling standards associated with generators and excitation (MOD-025, MOD-026, etc.)
  • Experience in the utility industry
  • Experience in control system design for rotating machines (asset)
  • Knowledge of simulator development on real time platform, Matlab/Simulink, C++ (asset);
  • Commissioning experience (asset);
  • PLC programming (Schneider, GE, Allen Bradley) (asset);
  • Fluency in English and French spoken and written;
  • Mobility for site travel, approximately 10% to 15% per year.
