The Ministry of Transportation , Corridor Management Section, seeks an engineer to coordinate, and provide leadership, to the technical group responsible for the provision of sound engineering and technical advisory services related to the review and assessment of corridor development applications in the Central Region.

In this role, you will:
plan, coordinate, organize and direct the activities of the staff within the Corridor Management Section
provide engineering and technical advice on corridor management issues
coordinate input on corridor management issues from other technical offices within the ministry
coordinate the review and/or preparation of legal agreements, official plans, property disposals, and ministers letters
NOTE: This position requires travel to project sites and to meetings with municipalities, developers and the public.
What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements
You are a Professional Engineer, licensed with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
You must possess a valid 'G' driver's license
Engineering Expertise
You have:
knowledge of theories, principles and practices of civil engineering, transportation planning, highway design, land use planning, and corridor management to provide information and advice.
the ability to interpret and apply provincial acts and regulations (e.g. Public Transportation and Highway Improvement Act, Drainage Act, Planning Act, Environmental Assessment Act) related to the protection of highway rights-of-way, ministry design and construction standards.
knowledge of computerized technical information and data-base systems in order to coordinate the development and implementation of information technology requirements for the Technical Group.
Communication and Relationship-Management Skills
You:
have verbal communication skills to liaise effectively with representatives of ministry technical offices and with developers, participate on ministry committees and working committees and deliver presentations
have written communication skills to prepare briefing notes, and detailed and complex engineering evaluation and recommendation reports.
can deal with stakeholders to recommend and present arguments to obtain agreement on issues and strategies, e.g., address proposal and design issues, contract drawings and documents.
Project Management and Technical Leadership Skills
You are able to oversee, and provide leadership to, staff.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills
You can:
evaluate and assess design submissions, and determine their compliance with ministry standards and engineering principles.
conduct research, and examine the relevance of information, and identify and prioritize issues.
develop alternative solutions to issues when resolving disputes.
