About the role

We are looking for a Senior Automation and Controls Engineer to design and implement sustainable automation projects as an integral part of the engineering team.
This is a great opportunity to utilize extensive knowledge and experience and to lead the design in delivery of capital projects at an industrial environment. This role also contributes to providing support and to testing & commissioning activities as well as on an as needed basis providing technical support to operations / maintenance teams.
Reporting to the Superintendent Automation, Instrumentation, Control Systems and working in a collaborative community, a challenging and exciting environment, a diverse team, you will be:
Developing and maintaining PLC and DCS programming, particularly with Allen Bradley Control Logix, PLC5, and Foxboro systems.
Designing and implementing automation systems, including control philosophies and application strategies.
Developing and configuring operator interfaces (HMIs) and design user-friendly control systems.
Ensuring network protocols (DeviceNet, HART, TCP/IP) are integrated effectively within the system.
Translating process flow diagrams, block flow diagrams, and P&ID's into detailed control narratives and system documents.
Reading and interpreting electrical diagrams, wiring schematics, and instrumentation documentation.
Leading and managing capital projects, including feasibility studies, project scope, and engineering designs.
Troubleshooting, upgrading, and optimizing automation systems and equipment, utilizing problem-solving skills and technical expertise.
What you'll bring

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering - Automation, Electrical, Electronics, Control or Chemical
P.Eng. designation
Solid experience in automation
Preferably experience working at an engineering firm, automation solutions provider, or plant's engineering teams
Experience working on industrial automation projects
