AECOM's Water group in BC is growing! We are searching for an Electrical Engineer for a full-time position supporting our municipal water infrastructure team. This is a full-time position based in our Burnaby, BC office.


The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Independently work to provide EI&C engineering tasks for municipal infrastructure projects and industrial energy generation projects to clients based in Western Canada Design and develop contract specifications, studies and reports for planning, designing, and maintaining electrical systems and infrastructure, including generation, transmission, and distribution, electrical power and distribution systems, grounding, lighting, cable tray system, cable feeder sizing, soft-start and variable speed drives, standby power, and low tension systems (fire alarm, telecommunications and security systems) focused on low voltage applications. Design and specify process instrumentation and control devices for various processes including municipal infrastructure and industrial applications. Provide electrical discipline leadership on small to mid-scale projects under minimal supervision to ensure that engineering and design deliverables comply with applicable regulations, standards and sounds engineering practices. Take direction and work closely with other disciplines as a key team player for coordination and liaison of project deliverables under minimal supervision. Develop strong relationships and tailored proposals with/for potential and existing clients, partners, and key stakeholders. Plan and lead engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with technical, budgetary, and timeline goals. Strictly adhere to AECOM's project design and specification standards, including capability of learning and adopting clients' standard and requirements as required. Ensure accuracy, completeness and quality of technical aspect on project documentation produced in accordance with AECOM QA/QC procedures and with the clients' standards and expectation. Ability to proactively participate, manage and organize the activity of other less experienced or junior team members, to provide supervision to designers, and efficiently and effectively coordinate multiple work assignments and projects.


Qualifications

Minimum requirements:



Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, from a recognized/accredited post-secondary institution + 6+ years of related industry and engineering design experience in a multi-disciplinary electrical, instrumentation & control environment; Registered Professional Engineer in Canada (EGBC preferred) or eligibility to obtain EGBC registration within 6 months;

Preferred qualifications:



Applicable experience in electrical related design and commissioning, preferably encompassing electrical distribution systems and DCS or PLC control systems, motor control and variable speed drives, and instrumentation & control systems for municipal or light industrial environment; Proven track record in design and production of tender documents such as P&IDs, single line diagrams, control and communication system diagrams, electrical and instrument location drawings, loop & schematic wiring diagrams; developing equipment load schedules, cable & tray calculations, instrumentation list and specifications sheets, standard details; contract specifications, electrical studies and reports; Familiar with the Canadian Electrical Code, IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), and experience in building (fire alarm and communication) systems; Experience related to transmission, distribution, generation but will consider also industrial relevant experience in electrical power distribution. Capability to perform electrical system studies and calculations. Proficient in use of AGi32, EasyPower / ETAP other design tools (REVIT MEP) will be a desirable asset. Proficient in use of AutoCAD and/or other design tools (AutoCAD P&IDs/Electrical, REVIT MEP) will be a desirable asset. Prior experience on tendering, construction service, start-up and commissioning, site supervision and field inspection will be a definite asset.
