Wood is currently seeking a
Senior Electrical Engineer
to join our Eastern Canada Operations team who will provide engineering support through the application of extensive and comprehensive knowledge of electrical engineering design principles and practices in the performance of all electrical discipline design work across our Eastern Canada business.
The Role
Wood is actively engaged in some of the most exciting and complex projects within the region, expected to span multiple years. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for conducting the checking of engineering deliverables, evaluating and selecting standard techniques, and providing construction support. This role involves collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and clients to ensure project objectives are met efficiently. The successful candidate will be expected to lead by example, consistently displaying and enforcing the Company's values and behaviors, role modelling commitment to the highest standards of safe and ethical behavior.

Typical responsibilities:
Plans and prioritizes work to meet client requirements and aligned with organizational goals
With guidance, look ahead to determine and obtain the resources needed to complete projects
Provide engineering expertise to deliver work scopes in line with company policies and procedures
Provide mentoring to discipline team members, helping the development of personnel to take more senior roles as their career progresses
Provide support to the business development process to identify and win new work
Collaboratively produce discipline input to proposals
Prepare and maintain estimates and schedules
Drive elimination of technical incidents through robust controls, incident reviews and embedding lessons learned in engineering procedures
Support Operations and Engineering Managers to produce discipline input to engineering execution plans
Assisting in continuously improving design systems and tools required by the discipline to deliver cost effective and competitive design execution
Where appropriate, manage projects, maintain and plan cost control, identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process
Ensure that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures
Provide technical assistance to discipline assigned personnel, as required
Review, check and approve work output of discipline assigned personnel, as required
Ensure Health and Safety and Environmental Regulations are followed methodically

Expected:
University graduation, majoring in Electrical Engineering
Registered Professional Engineer in Canada
Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal
15+ years of experience in the Power Utility, Mining / Industrial and / or Renewable Energy sectors considered an asset
Knowledge of local codes and standards
Above average working knowledge of Protection & Controls, SCADA, Instrumentation and Telecoms will be considered an asset
Demonstrable experience in managing electrical scopes of multi-disciplinary projects
Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
