Morguard is currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Director of Legal Services to join their legal team. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Retail, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient flow of legal documents throughout the business.

Your New Role

As a Senior Director of Legal Services, you will be responsible for overseeing the lease documentation process and ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and consistency of all retail lease documentation across various portfolios and geographic regions. You will approve lease deals, review lease documentation, negotiate and interpret leases, develop standard documentation templates, and oversee lease due diligence for properties to be acquired. Additionally, you will build effective communication and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, provide lease documentation services to clients, and attract and develop a high-performing team of professionals in support of the company\'s goals and objectives. You will play a crucial role in minimizing deal-related risks for the owners and managers of the property while maintaining the lease documentation process.

What Sets You Apart

You should have at least 15 years of legal practice in the real estate industry. You hold a law degree and are in good standing with the Law Society of Upper Canada. Excellent knowledge of commercial leases for assets including enclosed centers, power centers, strip malls, and mixed-use developments, as well as solid knowledge of the retail industry environment, is required. You should possess excellent analytical and systematic thinking skills, as well as strong communication, negotiation, and drafting skills. Critical reviewing skills are also essential for this role. You will need to be able to build and lead strong teams and deliver quality results under pressure and within tight deadlines.
