Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Director, Health Care Services. Reporting to the Head of Claims and Rehabilitation Services, you\xe2\x80\x99ll participate in setting the overall strategic vision, direction, leadership, and management of services within the division.

In this role, the Senior Director provides the vision for leadership and strategic direction to the Health Care Services, Medical Services and Mental Health Services departments, and the Health Care Programs and Special Care Services departments. You\xe2\x80\x99ll translate the coordinated strategy and vision to design or redesign health care policy and practice development, planning, training, and delivery of high-quality decision-making activities.

As a senior member of the Claims and Rehabilitation Services team, you\xe2\x80\x99ll collaborate with the senior director, Claims Management Services and the Head of Claims and Rehabilitation Services to provide strategic direction of the management of services to workers and employer clients in meeting the mandate to ensure fair, consistent, and timely adjudication of claims and provision of legislated wage loss and other benefits for injured workers, the facilitation of return-to-work programs, the provision of disability management assistance and vocational rehabilitation services, and the coordination of medical and mental health services.

In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work both from home and in our Richmond, B.C. office.

What you\'ll do

As Senior Director, Health Care Services you will:

  • Participate in strategic planning, business planning and transformation, policy determination, and decision making regarding overall divisional management matters
  • Provide overall leadership and management for Health Care Services by providing clear and positive vision and direction; understand the complexity, impact, and interconnections of injured worker services and developing strategic priorities and plans and translating them into clear, actionable goals
  • Incorporate strategic plans and transformations into reporting departments\xe2\x80\x99 goals, objectives, and key deliverables
  • Create a supportive, energetic, and collaborative client-centered working environment within and amongst the different departments in Claims Management Services; encourage new and innovative ideas including creative redesign of jobs, processes, and systems; provide opportunities to involve employees in a focused effort to meet changing client needs, recognizing contributions and achievements, and supporting managers and staff as changes and new initiatives are implemented in the workplace
  • Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues and stakeholders related to the Claims Management Services subdivision; maintain contacts, share information, invite feedback, and consult with key employer, worker, public interest, and government representatives

Your experience and educational background:
  • An undergraduate degree in health services administration, business, or related discipline and a minimum of 15 years of related and varied experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of complex service delivery systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • A post-graduate degree in medicine, psychology, or health services administration is considered an asset
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of intake, adjudication and claims management, medical and mental health services, preferably with the Worker Compensation system is required
