The Senior DevOps Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the systems and services of an organization are reliable, scalable, and efficient. Their job is to bridge the gap between development and operations, and to apply software engineering principles to operations tasks in order to create highly automated and reliable systems.

This role will report to the DevOpsSec Manager but will work very closely with the Software Engineering leadership as well as our Data Architect. As this is a new role within the organization, this role will also present findings and recommendations directly to the Tech leadership, including the CTO.

Responsibilities include: * Designing and implementing systems that are highly available, scalable, and fault-tolerant.

• Monitoring and measuring system performance, and identifying and resolving performance issues.
• Managing and improving the system deployment process to minimize downtime and risk.
• Automating operational processes and procedures, using tools like Terraform, Docker, or Artifactory.
• Managing system configuration and ensuring that changes are tracked and audited.
• Ensuring that the system is secure and compliant with relevant regulations and standards.
• Collaborating with developers to design and implement new features that meet reliability and scalability requirements.
• Participating in on-call rotations to respond to incidents and outages.

.Qualifications for this role:

• Strong technical skills in software development, operations, and infrastructure.
• Solid understanding of software engineering principles, and experience with programming languages like Python, and Java
• Experience with software development life cycle, branching strategies and Git
• Experience with system administration and should be familiar with operating systems, and networking. They should be able to troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise in a production environment.
• Experience with cloud platforms with a strong preference for GCP (Google Cloud Platform) and secondary, Microsoft Azure. Amazon Web Services (AWS) is also an asset.
• Understand how to build and deploy applications in these environments, and how to optimize their performance and cost.
• DevOps experience including DevOps principles, and have experience working in a DevOps environment. They should be able to collaborate with developers to ensure that applications are reliable, scalable, and efficient.
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and be able to explain technical concepts to non-technical team members.
• Ability to analyze complex systems and identify problems and bottlenecks and be able to design and implement solutions to resolve these issues.
• Bachelor\'s degree in computer science or related field is preferred.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in software development or operations, with many organizations preferring candidates with 5-10 years of experience
• Experience with tools such as New Relic, Slack, JIRA, and processes such as Centralized Logging, Auth, SSO are also an added advantage.
