Summary: Reporting to the Senior Manager, Advanced Modelling & Optimization, the Senior Data Solutions Architect will analyze, assess, document and design scalable and sustainable data architecture and data transformation processes within a large analytics pipeline. This role will support multi-functional teams as well as software developers, Business Intelligence (BI) analysts, data engineers and data scientists on data initiatives and ensure consistent data delivery throughout the entirety of a project. The Senior Data Solutions Architect will be responsible for Architecture definition, implementation, transformative innovation and incremental improvement of data analytics solutions and services. This role will build a roadmap to meet the growing needs of partners and stakeholders both in terms of proliferation of datasets and requirement for near-real-time Analytics.

The Senior Data Solutions Architect will have a deep understanding of the data ecosystem including design, integration capabilities, and database management systems and knowledge of emerging technologies, various platforms, tools and products in cloud migration space and is able to provide best-of-breed, fit for purpose data strategies and architectural recommendations leveraging Cloud & traditional on-premises data services.
Qualifications / Skills and Education: Education
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Masters\' Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field plus at least seven (7) years\' experience as a data solutions architect or data architecture related experience such as data analysis, data modeling, data integration, master and metadata management. Experience with healthcare analytics is an asset.

Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated competency through experience with the following areas: ETL/ELT, large scale data warehousing, data mining and/or analytical systems, big data ecosystem e.g. Hadoop, Distributed Computing, Spark, data lakes, etc. Deep understanding of end-to-end data architecture, business intelligence technologies, concepts, and methodologies.

Knowledge of AWS/Azure cloud technologies and architectures, cloud or on premise big data and BI stack, various analytics solutions including machine learning.

Demonstrated ability to effectively gather and prioritize user requirements from disparate sources, going beyond user requests to get at key user needs, and the ability to effectively collaborate in cross functional setting

Demonstrated ability to lead data discovery sessions with business teams, comprised of product owners, data analysts, and cross-team technologists, to understand enterprise data requirements of analytics projects.

Demonstrated ability to illustrate business and data processes using simple entity relationship diagrams.

Demonstrated ability to comprehend and apply Cloud Data Architecture Standards and integration design patterns.

Solid programming skills in T-SQL, C#, Visual Basic, Java, etc.

Demonstrated strength and skills in using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and Microsoft Visual Studio Advanced using data warehouse development, integration, analysis and reporting tools.

Advanced understanding of the Software Development Life cycle.

Strong understanding of and background in data architecture, data quality, data mapping, data structures, and database and business intelligence concepts.

Proven ability to interpret data files and record layouts to map fields between multiple systems and database tables.

Proven ability to prepare, maintain and publish ETL documentation, including source-to-target mappings and business-driven transformation rules.

Demonstrated ability to comprehend and prioritize user and business requirements, and to conceptualize information processing solutions in response to them, including analyzing, scoping and defining the work effort required to correct program deficiencies and problems.

Solid understanding of project management and portfolio management frameworks and processes with a proven ability to plan and execute complex projects with stringent budgets and timelines.

Strong quantitative skills with a demonstrated ability to analyze operational problems and recommend innovative solutions.

Strong interpersonal skills including strengths in working in a team environment with a client/user orientation.

Demonstrated technical leader with skills in teaching, coaching and mentoring others.

Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and processes in simple terminology to internal and external stakeholders, including all levels of management.

Duties and Responsibilities: Provides vision, leadership, planning, and strategic direction on data architecture and PHC enterprise data management.

Designs, implements, and maintains enterprise cloud-based data ecosystem to support data engineering and data science teams with solution implementation.

Defines secure and scalable technical architecture for data platform integrating into various data sources and collaborates Enterprise architecture, Cloud Services and Enterprise Security team for compliance with security guidelines and strategic architecture.

Articulates, recommends, designs and architects the right blend of products to build end-to-end data management and analytics architectures on Azure and AWS cloud platforms.

Builds strong relationships with the industry leading solutions in Cloud and Data and innovating technologies.

Drives architectural decisions on best way to meet business analysts and end user needs, while determining the right technology stack of Azure, AWS Data & analytics ecosystem

Defines requirements and creates architectural specifications, ensuring feasibility, functionality, and integration with existing models.

Oversees the architecture for the data platform and cognitive components including unstructured data technologies, annotation and related data and analytics, e.g. Big Data, Data Warehouse, Business Intelligence, Data Integration, Enterprise Information Management, Master Data Management and/or Data Consolidation projects.

Provides consulting in PHC stakeholders\' Data Journey to the Cloud and related data migration strategies.

Establishes standards for development processes and technical requirements. Develops and ensures compliance for data management processes, policies and standards. Implements and enforces controls to maintain data availability and quality.

Designs metadata driven ELT/ETL framework to automate the data ingestion with an emphasis on data quality, monitoring and scalability.

Develops roadmaps, reference architectures and provide guidance and direction to project teams.

Provides technical coaching, guidance and oversight of work and assists the Senior Manager in the recruitment and training of team members.

Implements efficient data solutions and models to store and retrieve data for multiple use cases.

Works in a cross functional team to lead enterprise projects from initiation to successful transition into production.

Always be on the lookout to automate and improve existing data processes for quicker turnaround and high productivity.

Leads design and code reviews as needed to ensure quality, consistency and compliance with requirements.

Acts as a technical lead on assigned projects and applies project management methodologies.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
