As a Senior Data Management Strategist, you will lead data analysis, performance measurement and reporting for Calgary 911, Emergency Management, Community Standards and Public Vehicle Standards. You will contribute to business unit and Council-led initiatives and will be responsible for collecting, cleansing, analyzing, interpreting and presenting data. Primary duties include:


  • Manage the Business Intelligence (BI) environment including infrastructure, databases, System Applications and Products in Data Processing (SAP) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) universes and applications.

  • Design and execute comprehensive testing of reports and dashboards; lead the development of dashboards to support access to data (self-service) and to support decision making.

  • Maintain and support the development of the data warehouse, contributing to and prioritizing projects.

  • Liaise with Information Technology (IT) and Subject Matter Experts to understand data requirements and design and deliver solutions to meet their needs.

  • Support data stewards to determine security levels and implement access controls.

  • Liaise with vendors and internal/external agencies to ensure BI and Data Management needs are addressed.

  • Lead performance monitoring, including identifying and producing performance measures to track operational performance, workflow processes and outcomes.

  • Monitor and summarize performance, report on results and work with leadership to develop recommendations for continuous improvement.

  • Plan, execute, monitor and provide quality control as required for Business Improvement Data Management projects and initiatives.

  • Provide data-related advisory services and act as the primary resource for projects that impact data reporting sets.

  • Produce reports including call volume projections to support staff resourcing and service targets.

  • Evaluate the impact of business process changes, conduct analysis and present results.





Qualifications

  • A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field and at least 5 years of experience in areas such as data analysis and modeling for reporting.

  • Experience must include at least 3 years of developing complex analytical reports in SAP Business Objects and knowledge of the entire SAP Business Objects suite of tools including WebI, Information Design Tool (IDT), Launchpad, Central Management Console (CMC), Data Services and working in an analyst role.

  • Experience developing reports and dashboards in Microsoft Power BI using DAX and Power Query and experience writing SQL queries will be considered an asset.

  • Related experience in the areas of business planning, strategic planning, policy development or strategic research along with analysis experience related to emergency communication will also be considered an asset.

  • Success in this position requires strong communication, research, organizational, planning and problem solving skills.

  • A strong customer focus along with the ability to collaborate and take initiative to identify alternative solutions for business improvements.

Compensation: Pay Grade 11 $42.09 - 56.27 per hour

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week with1 day off in a 3 week cycle.




Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
