Summary
We are seeking a Databricks Engineer/Architect with deep expertise in designing and delivering real-time data solutions that bridge MongoDB applications with a Lakehouse architecture on Databricks. In this role, you will lead the end-to-end architecture, design, and development of scalable data solutions that enable intelligent, low-latency insights across the organization.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, is passionate about real-time streaming, and has a strong grasp of MongoDB, Spark, Delta Lake, and Azure Databricks. Reporting to the Team leader, Insight & Analytics the Senior Data Engineer will be responsible for the following duties, and complete special initiatives and projects as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and deliver real-time streaming solutions that ingest and transform data from MongoDB into Databricks for downstream analytics.
• Design and implement robust, scalable data pipelines that support both batch and real-time workloads.
• Develop and maintain a Lakehouse architecture using Delta Lake on Azure Databricks, supporting business intelligence and operational analytics use cases.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data challenges and translate requirements into high-performing technical solutions.
• Lead the solutioning process end-to-end--from initial prototyping to production-scale deployment.
• Drive performance tuning, reliability, and monitoring strategies across the data pipeline ecosystem.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineers and cross-functional teams.

Required Experience

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with at least 3+ years architecting on Azure Databricks.
• Strong hands-on experience with MongoDB, including working with change streams for real-time ingestion.
• Demonstrated expertise in building streaming pipelines using Spark Structured Streaming within Databricks.
• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related fields.
• Deep knowledge of Delta Lake, Medallion Architecture, and Lakehouse patterns.
• Expert in Python and SQL for developing ETL/ELT logic and transformations.
• Familiarity with distributed computing concepts (RDDs, DataFrames, Spark SQL).
• Experience designing RESTful APIs for data services or integrations.
• Ability to translate ambiguous requirements into scalable, production-ready systems.
• Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; comfort working in fast-paced environments.
• Familiarity with tools such as Azure Data Factory, Event Hubs, or Kafka.
• Experience deploying and monitoring jobs in production using Databricks Jobs and CI/CD workflows.
• Knowledge of data governance, lineage, and security best practices in cloud environments.
• Continuous learning and staying updated with the latest advancements in Azure Databricks and data engineering are essential for success in this role.
