What will you do?

• To present ideas, expectations, and information in a concise, well-organized way using excellent judgement, technical insight, and to think out of the box.
• Provide technical and data leadership to the application development group, IT, and the enterprise.
• Develop and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models.
• Create & maintain data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data naming standards, and metadata standards.
• Develop and implement standards and processes for ensuring data quality.
• Collaborate with domain and enterprise architects for delivery in compliance to strategic enterprise direction.
• Contribute to analysis, solution design, development and implementation of operational and data warehouse projects.
• Perform high level and detailed design activities and create specifications for operational and data warehouse projects.
• Participate in ETL design, strategy and associated processes.
• Validate and comply with the defined data architecture.
• Be conversant with and cognizant of the future direction of systems, impact to the enterprise and how future and current systems can be exploited for the benefit of the enterprise.
• Recognize and identify potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed, especially regarding future business expansion.
• Provide input and consulting support on projects and road maps for compatibility with the enterprise vision.
• Work closely with key client and IT stakeholders in understanding business needs and recommend solutions.
• Understand business requirements and translate them to the enterprise data and process models.
• Lead logical data model workshops with business users to derive at a logical data model that correctly reflects the business.
• Setup the physical data model including all physical database configurations such as indexes, tablespaces, table partitions, table constraints, relationships, etc.
• Generate DDL script from data modelling tool and to ensure the script\xe2\x80\x99s proper function.
• Coordinate with database administrators the physical construction of databases for projects and maintenance.
• Understand RDBMS concepts especially in the area of database optimization.

• Contribute to database tuning and performance enhancement at a server and database level.

• Stay current on assessments of technology for the business.
• Fulfill departmental requirements in terms of providing work coverage and administrative notification during periods of personnel illness, vacation, or education.

What do need to succeed?

• Individual Insurance business background as well as Sales Force knowledge is required to assist business requirement assessment.
• Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse overall design \xe2\x80\x93 3+ years.
• Logical and physical data modelling \xe2\x80\x93 7+ years (dimensional and 3NF).

• In addition to all the traditional modelling techniques, the incumbent must also possess the knowledge to create logical data models using the Class Modelling technique as well the Generic Data Modelling approach.

• Experience with data modeling using ERwin or PowerDesigner and the Data Model Driven Approach \xe2\x80\x93 5+ years.
• Strong design & hands-on experience with DBMS \xe2\x80\x93 SQL Server, Oracle, DB2 for z/OS, IMS \xe2\x80\x93 10+ years.
• Data requirements gathering \xe2\x80\x93 5+ years.
• Data profiling \xe2\x80\x93 10 years
• Strong documentation skills using different tools including the MS Office tool suite.
• Metadata repository experience.
• Master data management experience.
• Knowledge of industry data management best practices and trends.
• Working experience with cloud technology, AWS, AZURE or Google Cloud.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
