At Education & Early Childhood Development (EECD) we ensure children in their early years have the support they need for a positive start to school; students in pre-primary to grade 12 receive a quality education, preparing them for what lies ahead; and we work with schools, teachers and others to increase overall student achievement and success.

EECD is working to build an integrated early years system throughout the province that will provide more accessible and comprehensive support for young children and their families.

About Our Opportunity

As a senior member of our Analytics team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping, guiding, and supporting the future direction of the education system in the province. This unique opportunity empowers you to contribute to the organization and accessibility of strategic education information assets, crucial for providing accurate and timely insights to the Department. Reporting to the Manager of Analytics, you will be at the forefront of driving data-driven decisions for the betterment of our education system.

Primary Accountabilities

Collaborate in developing strategies and guidelines that support a strong data management framework aligned with privacy and security best practices.

Contribute to the development and promotion of an analytics program to empower the Department with data-driven insights.

Engage with diverse business and technical contributors across organizational units, departments, and external entities to drive data initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

To excel in this role, you must possess a Bachelor\'s degree accompanied by 6 years of data and analytics related experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will also be considered. Your application must highlight your expertise in leading complex data and analytics projects, gathering information requirements collaboratively, and ensuring alignment with department priorities.

A self-directed individual, you thrive both independently and within a team, valuing diversity, and inclusion in the workplace. Your ability to exercise professional discretion, manage competing interests, and foster effective relationships is paramount. You are a critical thinker, adept at prioritizing and executing tasks under tight timelines, while making sound judgments under pressure. A natural problem solver, you possess the business acumen and passion to uncover valuable insights from data.

Technical capabilities will be crucial in driving data-driven insights and contributing to the success of strategic initiatives. Candidates with a proven track record of leveraging data and analytics skills to deliver impactful solutions will be highly valued in this role.

Your communication skills, both written and verbal, are strong, and you exhibit exceptional organizational abilities, paying meticulous attention to detail and accuracy while handling multiple priorities

In addition, you also possess the following:

  • Significant experience in report and dashboard development using tools like Power BI, IBM Cognos, or Tableau, while adhering content creation best practices.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL and hands-on experience working with database environments.
  • Development experience in languages like Python, Net, Java and/or ETL development experience
  • Expertise in building and optimizing data analytics life cycle processes.
Assets Include
  • Advanced expertise in Power BI and the Microsoft Analytics Suite of tools
  • Advanced analytics experience (e.g., visualizations, machine learning, data engineering)
  • Project management experience
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Additional Information

This competition will be used to fill two (2) employment opportunities: one (1) Permanent position and one (1) Term position.

Pay Grade: PR 17

Salary Range: $3,091.70 - $3,631.17 Bi-Weekly
