Job Description


We are looking for a Senior Data Analyst for a 6-month contract position with possible extensions in Calgary, Alberta. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Hybrid schedule, at least 4 days in the office. 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week. It is NOT a remote role.

Role Description
Our Client is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Contract Data Analyst to join our team for an exciting program focused on integrating, optimizing, modernizing, and sustainably governing our data management systems. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in migrating our systems to a defined modern standard, eliminating redundant costs, and increasing the quality of our data assets and business processes.

The scope of this role encompasses all aspects of the data lifecycle, including people, process, data, and technology. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving efforts that provide direct business value and contribute to the creation of sustainable processes that produce trusted, governed, and accessible data to support key business initiatives.
The Contract Data Analyst will work with Program team members, Corporate Data Office, and IT to establish and deliver high value projects within the program.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, identify gaps, and develop strategies for data integration, optimization, and modernization.
  • Analyze and assess existing data management systems, processes, and technologies to identify areas for improvement and develop recommendations for changes that provide direct business value.
  • Participate in the migration of data management systems to a defined modern standard, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and consistency throughout the process.
  • Develop and implement data governance policies, procedures, and controls to ensure data integrity, compliance, and accessibility across the organization.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of data management systems and processes and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Assist in the development of data management training materials and provide guidance to team members and stakeholders on best practices for data handling and usage.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data management to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of data innovation.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field; advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience in data analysis, data management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years Oil & Gas experience.
  • Strong knowledge of data management principles, including data integration, data quality, data governance, master data management, and data architecture.
  • Experience with data migration, modernization, and optimization projects.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to data management and governance.
  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, or Spotfire.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and present complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, with a strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages, such as SQL, Python, R, or SAS is a plus.
  • Prior experience with ERP/SAP, HRIS/Workday, ETRM/Allegro is a plus.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
