Job purpose



We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Senior Customs Broker to join our growing team in Montreal. This position supports the customs clearance process by assisting with documentation, compliance, and communication with clients and government agencies. Ideal for candidates looking to grow their career in international trade and customs.

Duties and responsibilities



Analyze client shipment invoices to determine tariff, duty and tax rates Communicate with clients or vendors to obtain additional information for proper tariff classification Answering inquiries related to release, tariff and compliance Able to process HVS/LVS shipments for processing daily releases along with other various types of entries plus knowledge of in bond and bonded warehouse regulations Performing traffic, administrative functions, arranging local deliveries, and remitting payments to the forwarders Prepare and process import documentation in accordance with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) regulations Classify goods using the Harmonized System (HS) tariff codes Verify import data and ensure compliance with CBSA, CFIA, and other government agency requirements Liaise with clients, carriers, and government agencies regarding shipment statuses and documentation Assist senior brokers with audits, file maintenance, and client service follow-up Maintain accurate records and ensure timely filing of customs entries Monitor release statuses and proactively resolve issues or delays Stay informed about changes to customs regulations and trade agreements (e.g., CUSMA) Other duties as assigned

Qualifications



5+ years of experience in customs brokerage Strong understanding of international trade regulations, customs tariffs and regulations Strong knowledge of customs release requirements for various modes of transport and goods Advanced computer skills in Microsoft programs (Excel, Outlook, Word) Experience working with SAP /ITMR4 ?systems is required Fluency in English & French (spoken & written) is required Industry-related certifications (CCS, CTCS) or equivalent professional status Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail Proven ability to handle complex shipments and navigate regulatory requirements Excellent communication skills to liaise with clients, government agencies, and team members Ability to work well under pressure, understand deadlines and multi-tasks

Working conditions



This position will require the employee to operate in a standard office environment. Prolonged time spent working on computers is anticipated.
