Senior Cultivator/ Horticulturist

Salary range $75,000-105,000 dependent on experience, benefits, 3 weeks vacationOur client, a reputable and growing manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Senior Cultivator/ Horticulturist to join their expanding team. This role would be based in beautiful Bracebridge, On and would offer relocation for the right candidate. We\xe2\x80\x99re searching for a dynamic leader to be responsible for managing all crops in the facility with the goal of delivering quality crops and trials with the production team. This role ensures the implementation of best practices and Standard Operating Procedures as well as manage the environmental, nutrient and IPM strategies.The Role:

• Managing the facility operating system to enable smooth and consistent environmental conditions, nutrient and irrigation strategies as well as ensuring seasonal adjustments are made and monitored based on weather conditions.
• Overseeing the Integrated Pest Management Program and develop strategies for pest and disease management to ensure an effective program.
• Supporting the team in growing knowledge acquisition related to best practices in record management, propagation, transplanting, crop maintenance, spray applications and on time performance related to Crop Schedules
• Supporting the Site Scheduling and Programming on a continuous basis related to fine tuning and optimal timing as it relates to crop health.
• Learn and understand the site trials and programs in order to adapt the growing culture to the goals of the trials.
• Interpreting media, water and/or plant nutrient analysis to effectively adapt fertigation recipes and/or adjust crop irrigation strategies.
• Monitoring and enforcing data collection as required by the Senior Leadership as it relates to Crop management and regulatory requirements.
• Overseeing and responding to greenhouse alarms and report to Senior Leadership in order to facilitate continuous improvements and mitigate risks to the greenhouse structure and crops.
• Supporting the production scale trials, initiating new mother stock and ensuring redundancy of key genetics assets.
• Supporting in the development and writing of SOP\xe2\x80\x99s specific to IPM, Growing and Crop maintenance activities.

The Ideal Candidate:

• A Bachelor of Science Degree ideally in Agriculture, or Horticulture
• Proven experience in plant cultivation, with a minimum of 3 years in a plant management
• Familiarity with modern greenhouse operational systems including irrigation, Priva, air handling, lighting, etc.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaborates well with the team
• Proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
