A. Role Purpose
Review junior staff reports and research cost benchmarks for similar projects. Combine and review final report with senior staff for issue.

B. Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

Technical Services: Calculate the measurements of specific building elements and other contract documentation for detailed and conceptual estimates

Review pricing for change orders to ensure accurate cost estimations

Provide benchmarking data (unit costs for buildings / unit rate analysis)

Prepare complex take offs and reports for insurance replacement costs

Technical Services: Undertake site visits and agree progress claims as part of a billable service

Technical Management: Conduct technical checking and quality assurance of work produced by others to ensure the deliverables are of billable quality

Direct the distribution of inputs required for the preparation of the estimates, provide advice on project task and ensure receipt of the inputs as per established deadlines

Consolidate / Review Project Cost Estimate / Cost Plan

Client Management: Maintain ongoing client communication and resolve issues expeditiously

Escalate issues to next level of management as required

Administrative Support: Ensure billing memos are accurate and issued on a timely basis for preparation of invoices

C. Education & Experience

Diploma of Collegial studies required; field of study in: Civil Eng, Architecture, Building Sciences, Construction, Quantity Surveying required

CEC required

PQS, MRICS, Cost Engineers preferred

Minimum 3 years of relevant experience

D. Skills & Knowledge

Required Construction Sector Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of the local construction industry (ICI sector projects), public and private owners, general contractors, sub-trades, contracts, Lien Acts, pricing, method of measurement, residential

Required System & Software tools knowledge: CostX, MSOffice, Timberline, Estate Master

Required Product / Service / Process knowledge: Cost Estimation
