Job Summary

WE is seeking a strong and detail-oriented leader to act as the Travel Manager to join the Travel Team. The individual will oversee travel arrangements, working closely with a team of six travel agents and coordinators to ensure organizational priorities are achieved.

This individual must be passionate and committed to the core beliefs of the organization\xe2\x80\x94the WE.org Philosophy.

The position is based out of WE\xe2\x80\x99s office in Toronto.

Responsibilities and Duties

Team Management:

  • Manage and lead a team of travel agents and travel coordinators
  • Work with senior staff to adhere to Corporate Travel Policy, develop strategies, and monitor compliance to policy
  • Develop, implement and manage travel vendor relationships and programs (agency, air, hotel, car rental)
  • Ensure that team and individual goals are set in line with the business strategy and accompany the team to achieve good performance levels
  • Management of all HR related aspects of direct reports such as: performance management, coaching, professional development, training plans, discipline, coordination of team\xe2\x80\x99s holidays, etc.
  • Responsible for rotating 24hr travel team emergency phone (minimum one week per month)
  • Responsible for quarterly reporting and annual planning
Travel Agent Portfolio:
  • Hold an agent portfolio with an expected 1000 bookings per year
  • Responsible for staff travel arrangements including air travel, car rental, hotel accommodations, and travel insurance
  • Provide business travellers with creative itineraries that will meet the demands of their busy agenda and fall within operational travel budgets
  • Liaison with travel consolidators to develop best route options using cost saving techniques, with thorough understanding of fare rules
  • Research and provide solutions to problems that travelers may experience with the arrangements provided, making travel changes and cancellations, reacting to emergencies and weather related concerns
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated experience of 4-5 years in successful implementing and leading company-wide initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across functions, organizations and suppliers/vendors
  • A strong self-motivated leader with the ability to drive transformational change, who is resilient to challenges
  • An analytical mind with strong business acumen
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities within tight deadlines
  • Results-focus, with evidence of actively driving change and supporting best-practice goals
  • Must have a strong ability to use various automated travel technology tools including travel management reporting tools and self- booking tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to explain complex concepts clearly and articulate key points out of general ideas
  • Strong Travel industry and systems knowledge, Sabre
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint & Access)
  • Experience with Salesforce an asset
