The Executive Council Office (ECO) supports the alignment of government priorities through objective analysis and advice to the Executive Council (Cabinet) and its committees. ECO supports Cabinet by facilitating the government's decision-making process, providing clear direction to departments, developing and advancing corporate priorities and plans, and offering corporate leadership to agencies, boards, and commissions.
About Our Opportunity
Reporting to the Senior Director, Corporate Strategy, the Senior Corporate Strategist is a key member of the Corporate Strategy and Priorities team whose mandate is to lead, prioritize and drive initiatives that are focused on corporate strategy and key government priorities.
Primary Accountabilities
The Strategist acts as the primary liaison for Departments on relevant files and coordinates government's approach to developing and delivering strategic frameworks that fulfil Government's priorities.
You will provide expertise, guidance, and corporate leadership on matters that impact the economy, labour, infrastructure, health and social opportunities. You will be a part of a team that provides evidence-based research, policy analysis, strategic planning, monitoring and evaluation support for initiatives that are responsive to the changing needs of Nova Scotians and aligned with the overall strategic vision and priorities of government.
Qualifications and Experience
You possess a bachelor's degree in a related field and several years of corporate strategy experience and/or project management experience. Professional experience within government or other large organizations would be considered an asset. An equivalent combination of related training and experience may be acceptable.
In addition to the above, the following skills and experience are required:

• Experience in leading or supporting the planning, development and implementation of strategic projects of varying scales and complexities.
• Proven track record of successfully leading and managing large-scale planning projects and programs, from conception to completion.
• Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse partners and foster a culture of teamwork and innovation.
• Skilled at building and maintaining relationships with partners, with the ability to navigate complex political environments, building consensus and driving change.
• Demonstrated ability to apply innovative approaches and digital tools to improve decision-making, measurement and future planning.

• Experience in leading requests for legislation and/or regulatory submissions is an asset.
• Ensuring effective planning by participating in cross-departmental strategy and/or planning and/or project committees.

Leadership competencies required at this level of work are: Analytical Thinking, Strategic Orientation, Innovativeness, Adaptability and Flexibility, Initiative, Effective Interactive Communication, Partnering and Relationship Building, and Intercultural and Diversity Proficiency.

Working Conditions
This role is based in a comfortable office environment, and you may be working at your computer for extended periods of time. Occasional travel may be required, so a valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation are necessary.
Your worksite will be in-office, full-time.
Your normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day. This role does entail a high volume of work which may require longer than normal working hours and overtime. Due to the multiple spheres of action and scope of responsibilities that this position requires, there is significant mental pressure, requiring your resilience.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.

Pay Grade: EC 12
Salary Range: $3,760.89 - $4,701.11 Bi-Weekly
