Senior Copywriter Regular Part-Time (up to 24 hours per week; must be available to work weekdays, evenings, and weekends)

Located in Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario (\xe2\x80\x9cthe AGO\xe2\x80\x9d) is one of the largest art museums in North America, with a collection of close to 100,000 works. Through the collection as well as collaborations with leading museums around the world, the AGO presents wide-ranging exhibitions and programs to approximately 1 million visitors annually.

We are currently seeking a regular part-time Senior Copywriter to join our Communications & Brand team. Under the direction of the Associate Director, Creative, and working alongside our creative team, this copywriter will perform at the highest level of creativity, leading with quality, while being adaptable and flexible, reflecting the AGO\xe2\x80\x99s mission, vision, and values. He/She/They shapes and develops the AGO\xe2\x80\x99s brand voice, tone, and writing guidelines to help attract new and diverse audiences and deepen the engagement of existing audiences to drive attendance and brand advocacy; connects the creative approach to the AGO business strategy and exhibits outstanding creative judgment to develop compelling creative for AGO, through messaging and marketing.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
  • Collaborative copywriter who can conceptualize and translate concepts into compelling visuals and practical applications with measurable success.
  • 8+ years of copywriting and marketing experience in an agency or in-house setting
  • Possess a dynamic portfolio of award-winning campaigns, brand marketing and advertising
  • Experience collaborating with designers and cross-functional partners
  • Ability to create compelling copy for diverse audiences, both internal and external, with fresh perspective, outstanding craft, and attention to detail
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to confidently present work to a variety of different audiences and stakeholders.
  • Strong ability to multi-task projects, while providing guidance to junior creatives.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and balancing multiple projects at a time. Able to manage processes and deadlines proactively
  • Passion for the arts and the not-for-profit sector, with a keen appreciation of the Toronto creative sector is an absolute must.
  • Avid observer of emerging trends and changing market dynamics, utilizing data and analytics to glean insights into AGO audiences, with the ability to be agile and act quickly
  • Broad understanding of traditional marketing vehicle production and implementation; social media channels and digital platforms; working with multiple vendors, agencies and media outlets.
