Partnered with Meridia, they are looking to add a Senior Contracts Manager to join their team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Role Description

As the Senior Contracts Manager, you will provide contracts negotiation, administration, and management support for a variety of complex development and production programs, including the Canadian Service Combatant program. Leading a team, you will be responsible for contract negotiations and day-to-day contract administration activities for the complete contract lifecycle. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing senior contracts support for future proposal opportunities, and will evaluate contract performance to determine the necessity for modifications and ensure compliance to all contractual obligations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Identifying key areas in contract terms supplied by other parties that would represent a significant risk to the company
  • Leading negotiations with clients, suppliers, and third parties on acceptable terms and conditions during bid/award and project execution phases
  • Managing the relationship and communication between the customer and Ultra
  • Overseeing hands-on contract documentation control from pre-award negotiations through contract close-out, including the review of contracts relative to proposals submitted
  • Preparing instructions for all contractual deliverable items
  • Engaging in all future capture efforts including providing assistance and guidance during proposal management and development, as well as ensuring that the commercial and contractual aspects of proposals are reviewed, redrafted, and submitted accordingly
  • Representing contracts at program meetings, supporting Program Managers with SOW and contract interpretation during contract execution, and driving contractual action items to completion
  • Acting as a formal interface with customers/subcontractors during the execution of contracts
  • Assisting with company compliance to ITAR and CCG
  • Preparing and negotiating of non-disclosure agreements for suppliers and customers
  • Supporting Intellectual Property and patent administration
  • Mentoring/coaching junior team members on contract administration procedures and contractual administration techniques
  • Travelling (
20%) to alternative locations to undertake occasional off-site activities as required

Your Qualifications

With a wealth of experience in contract management, you have a demonstrated history of providing contract administration throughout the entire contract lifecycle, preferably in the military/defense industry or similar environment. You have people leadership experience and are able to effectively deal with pushback, drive change, and generate buy-in from your team members, as well as provide guidance, structure, and mentorship. You are a strategic thinker, capable of effectively coordinating with program managers, customers, and engineering and business management teams. Furthermore, you are a driven individual with an attention to detail, ready to take on challenges and solve problems as a team.

Your qualifications include:
  • 8+ years\' experience working in commercial/contracts administration
  • 2+ years\' managing a small team
  • Degree in Law, Commerce, or related field from an accredited institution
  • Aerospace/defence or related business is considered an asset
  • Experience with drafting and negotiating standard supply and purchase agreements and non-disclosure agreements
  • Experience managing relationships with key stakeholders
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience drafting and negotiating agreements
  • Knowledge of contract law and government regulations as they relate to commercial and contracts functions
  • High level of capability with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Must be capable of acquiring a NATO Secret security clearance and a Canadian Controlled Goods assessment to the satisfaction of the company
