Reporting to the Manager, CEO Communications, as the Senior Communications Specialist, CEO Communications, this individual will be responsible for communicating to a variety of internal and external stakeholders to support the CEO?s top priorities and promote CAAT?s purpose to improve the retirement outcomes of Canadians. This position requires superior writing, copyediting, and verbal skills to produce engaging and meaningful communications that promote the value of defined benefit pension plans and vision of CAAT?s CEO and Plan Manager. You will contribute to a broad range of communications and marketing initiatives as an informed, expert representative of the Office of the CEO. The successful candidate will have 5+ years of corporate communications experience, including presentation development, speechwriting, thought leadership / longform articles and media relations. They will also be a strong collaborator who exercises tact and prudence when working with Communications colleagues to ensure message alignment across all audiences. We are looking for someone with the following attributes:

  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of public relations, executive communications or strategic communications
  • Ability to learn and collaborate on projects that may be confidential in nature in a poised and tactful manner
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple projects and competing deadlines
  • Be a true collegial team player who is enthusiastic, resilient and adaptable to unforeseen project changes
  • Exercise attention to detail and strong project management skills
  • Be a self-starter with demonstrated initiative
  • Experience supporting a dynamic calendar of communications priorities, events, speaking engagements and media activities with exceptional time management
  • Certificate in public relations is considered an asset
  • Experience in executive communications is considered an asset
Once here you will:
  • Prepare polished key communications products to ensure they are consistent with the voice of the CEO, including articles, key messages, media briefings, social media copy and other messaging for internal and external audiences
  • Work closely with various departments, including but not limited to Pensions Solutions, Governance &
Strategy, Strategic Risk Management and Communications, to assist in the planning of stakeholder engagements and writing/editing of communication material
  • Use judgement and discretion with material that is frequently confidential in nature to assess business requirements, reputational risks, and communications needs
  • Ensure alignment and consistency of all CEO communications with business priorities as they evolve, including presentations, speeches, longform articles, blogs and media relations
  • Support the framework development of communications processes and protocols
  • Support the development of website content, including copywriting, web design, and other deliverables as needed
  • Ensure team members are kept apprised of project deliverables and status, obtain input from subject- matter experts, and secure required approvals to deliver
  • Work with external vendors and agency partners
  • Facilitate timely and efficient delivery of accurate information to internal and external stakeholders, and provide recommendations on communication approach and content
