Senior Communications Specialist

Reporting to the Senior Communications Business Partner, the Senior Communications Specialist will be responsible for managing and implementing strategic communications programs to support Bayer Canada\'s Crop Science division, reaching key target groups such as media, opinion leaders, influencers, customers, and internal stakeholders. This role will execute strategies, plans and metrics that enhance brand and industry awareness and stakeholder engagement, by delivering solutions-based content using a full range of tools such as, events, sponsorships, public relations, and communications vehicles (traditional and digital).

What you will do:

  • Supports Senior Business Partner in the development, management and implementation of external corporate and product communications initiatives and programs
  • Proactively identifies communication opportunities, new ideas and solutions to add value to the clients and implement them in a timely fashion
  • Manages the day-to-day communication calendar and plans to support product, corporate and stakeholder communications
  • Manages the approval process of all communications material utilizing various digital system and platforms
  • Coordinates media relations activities and identifies new opportunities
  • Supports the Senior Business Partner with any potential business and brand issues
  • Proactively participates in brand reputation planning sessions, cross-functional meetings and planning of budget and resource requirements
  • Supports senior management with internal and external communications through various channels (i.e. website, Yammer, LinkedIn, speaking notes, etc.)
  • Manages the day-to-day relationship in producing communications materials with public relations agencies and suppliers, including budget control and KPIs
  • Works closely with the corporate communications team to provide division content and key product messaging to employees (i.e., website content, Company profile, etc.)
  • Writes, edits, and publishes content and news updates
  • Adheres to Bayer brand identity specifications
  • Works with North America Crop Science communications, global, legal and regulatory teams to ensure strategic message alignment and compliance with corporate standards and guidelines
  • Mentors summer students to maximize skill set and professional development
  • Other tasks as required
Who you are:
  • Post-secondary degree in Communications, Public Relations or related field
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Communications, including product communications and social media
  • Ability to manage a number of programs/projects simultaneously, on time and within budget
  • Creative mindset, able to think outside the box and recommend new ideas that meet business needs
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to details
  • Ability to work across function and departments
  • A strong understanding of social media
  • Sound critical thinking and judgment skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and team player
  • Understanding of crop science or Canada\'s agriculture industry is beneficial
  • Agency or Life Science experience an asset
  • Bilingualism is an asset
