Job Description


Dalhousie Financial Services strives to provide the highest quality financial services and information to ensure the effective stewardship of University assets to the benefit of students and scholarly activities. Reporting to the Manager, Student Accounts, the Senior Clerk works closely with various university departments in a flexible, team environment. Student Accounts collects tuition, housing, and other university fees, and assists students in tuition and fee related inquires. As a front-line resource, this position provides assistance to students, staff, parents and third-party sponsors, while adhering to university policy. The Senior Clerk supports the University Cashier.
Key Responsibilities

  • Acts as an information resource person for Student Accounts by telephone, e-mail and in person. Responds to various inquiries regarding tuition, fees, receipts, policies and procedures; advise appropriately.
  • Analyzes complex student records in Banner\'s Student and Accounts Receivable modules.
  • Receives, posts and balances various methods of payments (loans, scholarships, waivers, etc.).
  • Reviews refund requests to determine eligibility in accordance with refund policies.
  • Supports the University Cashier\'s desk, prepare bank deposit, post transactions in Banner.
  • Assists with an outbound telephone campaign to contact doubtful accounts.
NoteThe successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
  • Business Administration program with five years\' related work experience in an inquiries or document processing environment (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Proficiency in MS Office along with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service, cash handling skills, with excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and organizational skills.
Assets
  • Experience with integrated administrative systems (e.g., Banner).
  • Relevant experience in a post-secondary environment.
