Your opportunity
As our client base and workload continues to grow in the Kitchener, Waterloo and Guelph area, so too does our need to grow the team. Dillon’s Civil Engineering Team within our Communities & Environment technical group is looking for a Civil / Municipal Project Manager to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals and contribute to our continued success. Assignments span the entire project life-cycle from feasibility studies through preliminary and detailed design into construction administration. Municipal roads, community facilities and sub-surface municipal assets are just some of the types of infrastructure projects this position would lead. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects in both an office and field setting, while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience. This position is available at our Kitchener and Guelph offices. Responsibilities:
Your typical week will include a mix of the following responsibilities, based on your skills, experience, and career goals
Project Management & Design (87%)

  • Project manage a variety of multidisciplinary engineering design projects and project teams to meet client, regulatory and professional requirements
  • Undertake project planning including the management of project scope, schedule, budget, technical quality, communications, health and safety and risk in accordance with Dillon’s procedures to meet business objectives
  • Lead and contribute to functional design, detailed design and construction administration activities of multidisciplinary teams
  • Interact regularly with clients, agencies, utilities and other project stakeholders

Business Development (10%)
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities including submissions responding to requests for proposals, preparation of proposals and statements of qualification
  • Develop and maintain existing and new client relationships
  • Business travel to client locations and/or other Dillon offices upon request

Learning & Development (3%)
  • Support the career development of staff, including direction in project management, training recommendations, coaching, and mentoring
  • Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development
  • Contribute to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations
    and committees
Qualifications:
What you will need to succeed
  • Degree in civil engineering, preferably with a municipal or transportation focus
  • Licensed to practice as a professional engineer in Ontario, or eligible for licensure within six months of hire
  • Minimum ten (10) years; related work experience, preferably in the consulting industry and the Kitchener/Waterloo market.
  • Project Management Professional certification, or similar certification, would be considered an asset
Experience:
  • Demonstrated success in the management of multidisciplinary projects, project teams and business development activities
  • Demonstrated experience in budget development and budget control
  • Experience in the design of municipal infrastructure including water supply systems, sewage systems, roadways, storm water management, underground and surface site servicing works, and/or waste management facilities
  • Experience in contract administration services and requirements
  • Knowledge of municipal servicing standards and environmental approval requirements
  • Demonstrated skills in public and agency consultation
  • Strong writing skills, including experience in the preparation of technical memos and reports, proposals, client communications, and public/agency presentations
  • Experience with coaching and guiding less experienced team members in project delivery
