Clifton is currently searching for an experienced Senior Civil Engineering Technologist join any of our offices. As a Senior Civil Engineering Technologist, you will be a valued member of Clifton's Civil Engineering practice. In this role, you will support the planning, design, and execution of civil engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities
Conducting field and lab testing and documentation for quality control and quality assurance purposes (primarily asphalt, concrete, and aggregates/soils), with an emphasis on learning the requirements of the project or job assigned and delivering these services accordingly.
Complete geotechnical sit inspections, including communication between client and contractors, logging test holescoordinating field survey activities, determining project requirements, and survey methodology while ensuring adherence to project requirements and best practices.
Supporting project managers by coordinating field survey work, determining project requirements, and survey methodology.
Training junior staff on all testing provided, with an attention to quality and efficiency.
Ensuring accurate record keeping, maintaining measurements, project records, field notes, and data obtained during field activities.
Operating RTK and Optical survey instruments and computer equipment to conduct construction and topographic surveys.
Maintaining and calibrating equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability, as per specifications.
Ensuring an organized environment including soil inventory, and equipment within a team of laboratory and field specialists.
Effectively communicate results and observations verbally and written to clients, contractors, and project engineers.
Liaising with contractor's and client representatives to provide reliable, value-added services.
Required Skills and Experience
Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Geomatics, or a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Seven (7) to fifteen (15) years of relevant field experience in construction and civil engineering technology.
Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D considered an asset.
Must have (and maintain) a valid Class 5 Driver's License and provide a clean Driver's Abstract.
Willing to perform field work and have a flexible schedule to meet project needs. Travel may be required for this position, including to remote areas, where working overtime, on weekends.
Ability to work independently on site, outside and in remote locations.
Strong communication skills, proficient at report writing, reviewing, and interpretation of results.
Strong organizational skills, including effective management of multiple and conflicting priorities with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
Provide reliable, value-added service to our clients with continual improvement.
Contribute to a positive work environment, conducting oneself in a professional and ethical manner.
Adhering to safety protocols and regulations while working on construction sites.
Adapting Clifton's Quality Management System into project delivery.
