SNC-Lavalin\xe2\x80\x99s Mining & Metallurgical team in Canada is made up of more than 400 employees who work on large-scale projects to support mining sustainability, pit-to-port opportunities, metallurgical plant engineering, or mine closure and capabilities in the study, design, and construction of mining projects across a wide range of mining and processing methods and commodities. We are seeking a Site Civil Engineer to join our Structural Engineering Department. The successful candidate will report to the Civil and Structural Engineering Department Manager.

The person in this position will work onsite in Newfoundland Labrador City with our client and a construction contractor to provide Civil Engineering support for ongoing construction.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite in Newfoundland, Labrador City. Local candidates are welcome to apply!
This position offers fly-in fly-out (FIFO). Rotation of 21/7.

Your role within the team:

  • Produce engineering documents as needed on site such as, design reports, cost estimates and construction specifications, Data sheets, Bid documents, Bid evaluations, engineering directives, and other data, according to client specifications.
  • Provide technical assistance to the civil/structural superintendents and craft to ensure best resolution for all parties for any technical issues arising in the field
  • Problem resolution and inspection of site preparation, drainage and utilities installation
  • Coordinate activities with other disciplines and clients\' resident representative as instructed by construction management
  • Execute field take-offs from \xe2\x80\x9cIssued for Construction\xe2\x80\x9d drawings, provide input to the quantity tracking applications, and report weekly installed quantities to project controls.

The ideal candidate:
  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of 10 years of Civil Engineering experience.
  • Extensive knowledge/experience in designs for earthworks, drainage systems, site underground services. Water shed management, Haul Road designs and Pumps Systems knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Registered professional engineer in Canada.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, ability to maintain confidential information critical.
