Senior Business Analyst -Technology Delivery

Division: IT Applications & Planning

Location: Calgary or Edmonton, AB.

Position Summary:

The Senior Business Analyst works directly with our Business and an assigned Delivery Assurance Manager who is responsible for sponsoring technology changes within designated business units. This team works towards determining how people, data, processes, communications, and information technology can best accomplish improvements for the business. In achieving this, the Business Analyst acts as a facilitator and liaison, bridging the gap between the sponsoring group and technical resources. When problem solving, the focus is primarily on the business and technical aspects.

You will be responsible for developing documentation including business cases, funding documentation, requirements and user acceptance testing approaches/completion and may be assigned reporting responsibilities.

What Else You Get To Do:

  • Collaborate directly with an assigned Delivery Assurance Manager, sponsoring technology changes within designated business units.
  • Determine how people, data, processes, communications, and information technology can best accomplish improvements for the business.
  • Participate in requirements clarification that will support and lead to the successful design with the Architecture group
  • Provide cost estimation at different certainty levels throughout the lifecycle of a project
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of strategic technology roadmaps aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Conduct regular assessments of project portfolio health, identifying and mitigating risks and dependencies from the role of Business Analysis accountabilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate communication and alignment across interconnected projects. Interact with other IT teams: Cyber Security, Data and Analytics, Infrastructure, Vendor Management, Contracts.
  • Implement governance mechanisms to ensure adherence to business analysis practices within project management methodologies and organizational standards.
  • Oversee the testing phase, from a requirements resolution and testing strategy perspective, collaborating with quality assurance teams to ensure thorough test planning and execution.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to prioritize initiatives and ensure alignment with the overall IT strategy.
  • Collaborate with business units to understand their needs and translate them into actionable project requirements in greater detail throughout the lifecycle of the project
  • Map out current state and future state process flows, merging process with technology
Who You Are:
  • 7-10 years of relevant Experience working for numerous companies (including utilities) to bring best practices and ideas
  • Bachelor\'s degree in business, IT, related field or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience as a Business Analyst, with a focus on IT projects
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Quick to adapt to new processes and procedures
  • Ability to work with multiple business units, across multiple locations
  • Work in a multi-vendor environment
  • Ability to distinguish from customization and configuration
  • Knowledge of multiple project methodologies
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • High level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Oracle, MP, ProSci, CBAP, Jira, Confluence
  • Meticulous self-starter who enjoys working in a team environment, needs minimum supervision, and can cope effectively under pressure with shifting priorities.
