Queen's University has launched the Renew Program, a multi-year Initiative aimed at ensuring the university's professional services are operating effectively to support delivery of our academic and research mission.



Reporting to the Director, Strategic Projects, the Senior Business Analyst will play a critical role in supporting the Human Resources (HR) Renew initiatives by analyzing, developing, and improving HR business processes and systems. The incumbent will act as a key partner in delivering coordinated and integrated solutions designed to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of HR services aligned with HR values and Queen's strategic goals. Through collaboration with stakeholders across HR and the broader university community, the Senior Business Analyst will support the successful implementation and adoption of Renew Program changes, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:



Collaborates closely with project and program teams to coordinate the delivery of HR Renew Initiatives and process changes, ensuring projects are completed on time and meet quality expectations. Lead detailed business analysis activities including requirements gathering, process mapping, and gap analysis to support HR Renew initiatives. Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of HR business functions and current technology as it relates to the broader Renew Program goals. Facilitate consultations and workshops with leadership teams, business owners, and subject matter experts to identify needs, capture current state workflows, and design future state processes. Manages business requirements gathering across multiple queen's community partners with a vested interest translating complex needs into scalable solutions. Conducts strategic analysis to guide business decisions. Prepares, maintains, and communicates clear and detailed business requirements documents, process models, and functional specifications to guide system and process improvements. Performs cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed changes. Prepares written proposals of recommendations and presents to senior leadership. Oversees testing and implementation of solutions and supports User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities, including development of test scripts, coordination of testing efforts, and sign-off on changes impacting production environments. Provide training support and communication materials to foster user adoption of new systems and processes implemented under the Renew Program. Monitor implementation effectiveness and conduct post-implementation reviews to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Identify risks, issues, and mitigation approaches related to HR Renew projects and escalate appropriately. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR systems, best practices, legislative requirements, and change management principles relevant to the university.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:



University degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Information Management, or a related discipline. Minimum 5-10 years of experience as a Business Analyst, HR Analyst, or similar role with demonstrated expertise in HR systems and process transformation initiatives. Experience in an HR environment is preferred. Proven experience in business process mapping, requirements elicitation, and documentation. Strong knowledge of HR functions including payroll, recruitment, employee relations preferred. Experience supporting or implementing enterprise HR systems and related technologies (PeopleSoft or equivalent preferred). Proficiency with business analysis tools and Microsoft Office Suite. Effective communication skills with the ability to engage a diverse range of stakeholders both verbally and in writing. Satisfactory criminal record check is required. Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with attention to clarity, detail, and logic. Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with HR teams, project stakeholders, and IT partners. Strong facilitation and consultation skills, comfortable working independently and collaboratively. Ability to prioritize conflicting demands and manage workload to deliver results within deadlines. Self-motivated with sound independent judgment and problem-solving capabilities. Promote equity, diversity, indigenization, inclusion and accessibility in the workplace.


DECISION MAKING:



Determine appropriate analysis approaches and methodologies to support HR Renew initiatives. Assess and prioritize business needs with consideration to strategic goals, resource availability, and impact on stakeholders. Identify potential operational and technical implications of proposed changes and recommend solutions. Develop or contribute to project plans supporting the delivery of key HR Renew program objectives. Recognize and present ideas to promote, enhance, and further develop the Renew initiatives and Human Resources. Determine information needed by management or project teams for decision making process.
