Overview:
Our Alberta-based client is a growing Canadian insurance company having over 200 employees with branch offices in Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver. We currently have a contract position available for a Senior Business Analyst. If you are passionate about the ability for technology to drive business performance and you love working various stakeholders to define and craft software that delights end users, this role is for you. Our client has a strong history of leveraging technology to enable our business partners to delivery world-class service to our customers. The priority for this role over the coming years will be to lead the business analysis for a multi-year business driven replacement of our core insurance management solution. Our current system is reaching end-of-life and we need an experienced person to oversee and derive the requirements for a transition to a new platform. Near term activities include, identifying and documenting current system functionality, identifying future desired functionality and ultimately ensuring the new platform meets the business requirements. Post implementation duties will include identification and oversight of on-going business requirements for the new platform and further work transitioning remaining legacy software.

Working with the business to develop new business strategies and business models, taking all aspects into consideration and providing insight into how these strategies will benefit the company
Overseeing and gathering the requirements for new products and major enhancements, including all aspects of the requirements lifecycle from gathering though to testing, sign off and the final roll out of initiatives
Identifying areas of poor performance in the company and in the outside market and make recommendations for improvement
Collaborating the development team to ensure requirements are understood and testable
Collaborating with business to ensure that final requirements are tested and signed off
Working with project managers to identify change management requirements (e.g., communication, training, etc.) and ensure that they are executed successfully
Designing and leading training programs to establish a base understanding in any department or company-wide initiative to ensure that all employees grasp the information correctly
Collaborating with other internal teams and external vendors to ensure reciprocal business needs or limitations are considered throughout all stages of the project
Identifying opportunities to improve overall business analysis related processes
Supporting other various strategic initiatives across the organization in a variety of capacities
What you must have:
Post-secondary degree in business, information technology, or related field
10 years of experience as a business Analyst with at least 5 years experience as the lead business analyst on major IT or business technology transformations
BABOK (or equivalent) certification is an asset
Experience building RFPs and supporting requirements for large enterprise systems
Experience directing and managing the work of other business analysts
Exceptional communication skills across a range of forums and channels and with senior level stakeholders
Exceptional documentation and presentation skills
Understanding of agile concepts and demonstrated experience applying same
Experience identifying and implementing business analysis best practices withing organizations
Demonstrated experience with large ERP system implementations/replacements
Experience in highly regulated industries/financial services; experience in the insurance industry would be considered an asset
