Leveraging your keen eye for identifying opportunities, along with your extensive business acumen and analytical expertise, you will guide stakeholders through the entire innovation process. From the initial spark of an idea to the development of a tangible concept, followed by prototyping and rigorous experimentation, you will champion these initiatives, securing buy-in for new products and services. Your expertise will support our commitment to advancing innovation in alignment with WorkSafeBC\'s strategic priorities.

Where you\xe2\x80\x99ll work

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines the convenience of working remotely with the dynamism of working in one of our offices, based on the operational needs of the position.

In this role, you\xe2\x80\x99ll work primarily from your B.C. home and occasionally in our Richmond office.

What you\'ll do

As a senior innovation advisor, you will:

  • Review innovative idea submissions through an innovation pipeline and provide advice to stakeholders on the proposed plans to move those ideas forward
  • Build proof of concepts to quickly verify the high-level feasibility of a solution
  • Facilitate research on users\xe2\x80\x99 needs and experience of innovative ideas and solutions that align with the innovation strategy and the corporate and divisional strategic priorities, including delivering against objectives and key performance indicators
  • Provide strategic, analytical support and insight for innovative ideas and solutions to various levels of the organization; help turn ideas into value-added solutions supporting stakeholder needs
  • Work closely with stakeholders to anticipate and plan for future requirements of the organization and provide strategic and operational advice on a spectrum of innovative initiatives
  • Design experimentation plans to optimize implementation of innovative solutions
  • Identify risks to the organization and stakeholders and provide advice to management on strategies to mitigate these risks to facilitate successful discovery, exploration, experimentation and delivery of proof-of-concepts and solutions
  • Develop and deliver business cases and presentations to senior management and stakeholders on innovative initiatives, business and stakeholder impacts and recommendations for successful and sustainable solutions

  • Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions to meet organizational needs through rapid prototyping and experimentation
  • Research innovation best practices and external partnership opportunities to bring innovation forward at WorkSafeBC
  • Strong leadership, management and coaching skills, and the ability to lead cross functional teams to achieve strategic objectives, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Leverage the art of storytelling to present information on qualitative and quantitative data to facilitate discovery sessions and to persuade decisions on innovative solutions
  • Provide stakeholders strategic and analytical support and insight for innovative ideas and solutions
  • Leverage your background and experience in relevant industries such as public sector, insurance, health care, technology to help generate, develop, test, and implement innovative ideas
  • Utilize creative, strategic problem solving and decision-making skills to solve complex organizational challenges
  • Lead rapid prototyping and agile delivery teams, to guide solutions to production
Your background and experience:
  • 5+ years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in technology or product innovation
  • A master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Technology Management, Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or related discipline is preferred.
  • A minimum of three years of related experience, such as management consulting, business process management, business analysis, behavioural economics, innovation, user experience design, change management, project management or agile software development
