Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate will be working at one of our Canadian Blood Services offices, with our Ottawa location (1800 Alta Vista, Drive) being a preference, a mixture of on and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement is subject to change, based on operational needs.

About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a regular full-time Senior Business Acceptance Analyst to join our dynamic Payroll Services, Talent Program team.

The Payroll Services, Talent Program team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by overseeing the Payroll process and partnering with internal teams to enhance the employee experience and ensure everyone is paid accurately and on time.

In this role, under the direction of the Manager-Payroll Services, you will oversee the daily operations of the end-to end Request for Change process, comprising of efficient planning of release cycles and projects, effective prioritization of new and existing changes and enhancements. You will be responsible for optimizing the operation of the payroll system of record, ensuring standardization, best practices, sufficient control over data and processes, and accuracy of configuration. Through all updates to the system, you will oversee the support to the Manager and Supervisor, Payroll Services, and Payroll Analysts in ensuring the tools and practices are in place for payroll processing, audits, development, and implementation of corrective action plans.

  • Drawing on your excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, you will initiate and maintain excellent working relationships for Payroll Services with all stakeholders invested in an efficient, accurate, and best user experience time and payroll system, while fully recognizing and adhering to the compliance with provincial and federal legislation, Collective Agreements, and all Terms and Conditions of employment.
  • Utilizing your organizational and time management skills, you will provide hands on assistance with the daily execution and management of changes to ERP SAP System configuration and internal processes.
  • Leveraging your leadership and mentorship experience, you will oversee and support the Business Acceptance Analysts, including testing, implementation of changes to production SAP system, analyses of payroll results to ensure results are as expected in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of Employment or Collective Agreement requirements for which the changes are based.
  • You will be the prime representative for Payroll Services in the ownership of tools designed to increase the employee experience. Tools owned by Payroll Services include, but are not limited to, Employee Direct Access (EDA), Manager and Supervisors Direct Access (MDA/SDA), Mobile Employee Direct Access (MEDA) including FIORI Timesheet applications, and all other applications.
  • Drawing on your continuous improvement mindset, you will identify continuous improvement opportunities to increase efficiency, quality, and value to Payroll Services and internal clients, through changes in processes, policy, or use of technology.
  • You will perform other related duties as required.
Desired education and skills
  • Completion of post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution.
  • You will have a minimum of six years of related payroll and/or time experience with the Finance/Payroll/HR Modules of SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Possessing a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation or Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) from the National Payroll Institute will be considered an asset.
  • You will be required to have a minimum of five years of Human Resources, Time, or Payroll experience in a highly unionized environment.
  • High level of proficiency with spreadsheets will be expected.
  • Proficiency in MS Office - Excel, Word, Project, and presentation applications.
  • You will have a solid understanding of Payroll regulations, Employment Labour Laws, Collective Agreements and Terms and Conditions of Employment.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

  • This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/2 days of the week.
  • You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week/7.5 hours per day.
