Job Description


The Brand Communications Specialist (Campaigns & Media) develops integrated marketing communications campaigns designed to support the BMW Brand and new vehicle introductions in order to positively impact perceptions and consideration in Canada. Key responsibilities include brief creation and delivery, campaign strategy development, oversight of creative production, oversight of media channel integrations, agency steering, budget management, and project management of focus campaigns developed for the Canadian Market. This role reports to and collaborates with the Brand & Retail Marketing Manager to plan and oversee all ATL media spend in the Canadian marketplace, ensuring that campaign KPIs are clearly communicated, measured and reported on at defined timelines. Outside of focus campaigns, the management of SEM strategy and budget to ensure strong SOV for BMW in Search, while coordinating with other internal stakeholders, is a key responsibility of the role.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare all Brand campaign brief documents and lead IMC meetings, media channel integrations, and creative development process for vehicle launches and annual Brand campaigns.
  • Determine and work towards media KPI achievement (annual and campaign specific).
  • Work closely with Creative Agency to develop campaign communication and creative and provide creative critique, ensuring effective solutions to challenges outlined in agency briefs have been delivered.
  • Analyze agency recommendations for launch campaigns against project + department objectives and Brand guidelines to ensure positive contribution to BMW brand perception in Canada.
  • Collaborate with associates in Aftersales, MINI, CPO, and FS to find synergies and ensure awareness of Brand Communication strategy and direction is understood.
  • Negotiate annual Media commitments with Media agency of record to secure premium placement in required media channels at optimal rates. Additionally, manage annual media Performance Audits.
  • Review and analyze all centrally produced assets for marketing activity in Canada.
  • Manage SEM for the BMW Brand on an annual basis, ensuring strong SOV and close collaboration with internal stakeholders to optimize spend.
  • Manage the ongoing development, maintenance and updates to the BMW Canada Marketing Hub for retailers, ensuring awareness and utilization of the tool is maintained and regular upload of marketing assets are continued.
  • Strictly adhere to all purchasing, controlling and finance processes, ensuring timely creation and entry of PR/POs and ensuring work/services are goods receipted in SAP and invoices are paid on time.
  • Analyze Brand Monitor/NVCS results to inform communication briefs and ensure agency partners are educated on key areas of strength and opportunity to enhance the BMW Brand.
  • Analyze campaign reports and compile comprehensive post-campaign reporting documents that are shared across the organization in a timely manner.
  • Follow industry trends and monitor competitor communications activity and media spend.
  • Lead communication efforts of all Brand Marketing initiatives to the BMW Retailer Network in a timely manner to ensure maximum usage of assets and campaigns throughout the year.
  • Manage all Brand Marketing related contracts within the CCMS contract system and ensure all required contracts are in place prior to commencement of work.
Qualifications
  • Completed University Degree in a Business related field with a focus on Marketing.
  • Honours Bachelors in Marketing and/or Communications an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a similar or related position with Advertising, Media, Communications.
  • Proven campaign management experience.
  • Proven ability to manage agency partners.
  • Proven ability to manage large and dynamic advertising budgets.
  • Previous (premium) automotive experience an asset.
  • Strong budgetary / financial planning skills.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong proof reading skills.
  • Strong PC skills (Microsoft Office applications).
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment.
  • Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of BMW products and corporate identity an asset.
