Senior Biomedical Technologist (Permanent, Full-Time)



The Renfrew Victoria Hospital (RVH) is a 55-bed, fully accredited facility located just 45 minutes west of Ottawa, serving a catchment area of over 60,000. Part of the Renfrew and Area Health Village, RVH provides medical, surgical and complex continuing care as well as extensive ambulatory care with over 30,000 emergency and clinic visits per year.

Reporting to the Nurse Manager, Nephrology/Dialysis at RVH, as part of our Biomedical team, the Senior Biomedical Technologist is responsible for providing technical support to the hemodialysis program, as well as the maintenance of biomedical equipment at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital, acting as the first line of technical support on select pieces of equipment. You will assume responsibility for quality assurance and control of the equipment within your scope.

Qualifications:



A graduate of a recognized college with an accredited program in Dialysis Engineering Technology, Biomedical Engineering or Electronics/Electrical Engineering Technology

Competency in technical skills

Eligible for membership within the Canadian Association of Nephrology Nurses and Technicians Association

Previous experience in biomedical technology and working in a hospital environment preferred

OACETT certification would be considered an asset

Current knowledge of CSA and other related safety standards/legislation as they apply to medical devices and systems

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, effective problem-solving abilities as well as a commitment to quality

Able to work effectively in a team, and to maintain rapport with patients and their families

Able to recognize and respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations

Able to perform the duties within the working conditions of the work area

Candidate must hold a valid Ontario driver's license for travel between the Renfrew Victoria Hospital and its dialysis satellite programs

Working conditions may include stressful situations and frequent interruptions

Constant standing and/or walking, occasional heavy physical effort required such as lifting or moving equipment

Ability to make independent decisions

Ability to prioritize and carry out various job functions within several departments, ensuring all deadlines are met in a timely fashion

Criminal Records Check completed within six months is mandatory

Transportation is required to be able to work at our Satellite Units.

Previous experience working in biomedical technology in a hospital environment will be a significant asset
